GREY CUP: Regina has a major intersection? Who knew?

WINNIPEG Mayor Sam Katz has promised to wear a Saskatchewan Roughriders jersey at a major intersection in Regina if the Blue Bombers fail to win the Grey Cup on Sunday.
Which of course begs the question: Does Regina actually have a major intersection?
"According to (Regina Mayor) Pat Fiacco, there are at least two," Katz quipped on Monday, when he made the customary bet with his counterpart in Regina over the outcome of the big game in Toronto -- the first-ever such tilt between two flatland cities.
"Wasn't it just last year they got rid of the horses?" Katz joked.
According to the terms of their bet, the mayor from the losing city will buy four sets of season tickets to the winning city's football team and donate them to charity.
The losing mayor must also wear the opposing team's football jersey to a council meeting -- and stand and wave at a major intersection in hostile territory, wearing the offending piece of clothing.
Katz said he is not too concerned about having to wear the green and white in Regina because he believes the Bombers can get the job done -- even without quarterback Kevin Glenn, the CFL's leading passer this year.
The Bombers' candidate for Most Outstanding Player broke his arm trying to recover a fumble during last Sunday's Eastern Conference final in Toronto and will be replaced by Ryan Dinwiddie.
Premier Gary Doer, meanwhile, is holding off on making a bet with Saskatchewan premier-elect Brad Wall until the leader of the Saskatchewan Party is sworn in on Wednesday.
Asked Monday why there's no Blue Bombers flag flying at the legislative building, Doer proudly did a model-like spin in his Bomber parka.
"I'm wearing it on my sleeve..." Doer said.
The city, meanwhile, will fly the Bombers flag at city hall and at the corner of Portage and Main, where Fiacco will stand and wave if Winnipeg wins.
Doer predicted the Bombers will win the Grey Cup "by a field goal," while Katz is confident the Blue and Gold will prevail by a touchdown.
The premier and the mayor both plan to attend the Grey Cup, and are also hoping to make it to Friday's Vanier Cup in Toronto, where the University of Manitoba Bisons will battle the Saint Mary's Huskies for the college football championship.
