$20 Day In St. Louis - Part Two -- CWE/Forest Park and More

Here's part two, we took the train to the Central West Ends DeBaliviere Station, which is across the street from Forest Park, and on southern edge of The Skinker-DeBaliviere Nabe, and the Western Edge of the CWE. Tara is looking to downgrade her expenses of her loft, and she wanted to look at some apartments in the CWE.

Arriving at the DeBaliviere Station, ready for more action.

The History Museum, and entrance into Forest Park.

Walking away from Forest Park, heading towards DeBaliviere.

The Western Edges of the CWE.

Heading towards the Metropolis Offices.

One of the many apartment buildings in the neighborhood.

A Fountain right by a store front.

The Metropolis Sales Center.

Tara with the sales rep Liz checking out the display model.

View from the deck/porch looking in.

Liz the taxi driver...

Drops us off at the History Museum.

The walk begins...

This old guy was walking ahead of us, I just had to get a picture. He was just dressed so nicely.

The Grand Basin, The Art Museum in the background, and paddle boaters.

See above.

Taking a break. My jacked up feet.

Tara decides to go for a walk, I think there was a cyclist she wanted to say hi to.

Boaters.

We decide to check out the Art Museum. It's on a big hill, and there's only one way to get there...Go up.

Mission Accomplished, only slight loss of breath, and sore thighs.

City's namesake, Saint Louis. Just a damn cool statue.

SLAM Baby!

Hint: It's air conditioned...and free to get in.

Main entrance, big and beautiful.

It was family arts and crafts day at the museum.

Looking at Monet, or was it Manet?

Sorry for the blurry shot, but it was a cool painting, and large.

Looking at another work of art, out the window into Forest Park.

Midrises in the background.

I just liked this shot.

Nice motto: Free.

Walking to Skinker, not to golf.

The Cascades were popular.

Little ducklings cooling off.

Pretty area, I thought.

Enough with the ducks already.

Wonderful scenery, sorry the shot isn't closer, but she was running fast.

Fairways and high rise apartment living.

Washington University, on the Western Edge of Forest Park.

Almost time for our second meal.

Kayaks Coffee, right by the metro stop.

Despite it being about 3:30 or 4 pm, the place was pretty busy.

Cost so far: $9 for two day long metro passes, $17.78 for breakfast, $11.77 for late lunch = $38.55.

Lunch, mmmm, grilled chicken wrap.

Back underground to hop on Metro.

Waiting for the train, checking out the lame Metro Map.

Our chariot arriveth!

Happy transit users.

Get off at Union Station, gonna walk through the old mall.

Lovely day under the overhang.

Dad playing with his daughter. Her laughter was filling the entire place.

What's more american than asian tourists and baseball?

The next few pics didn't turn out that great, but I'm posting them anyways, cuz I'm a rebel like that. Plus this structure is just gorgeous.

The Hotel at Union Station, hawt.

This thing is a trap, you can't walk by it without whispering into the arch, I feel like I'm in 4th grade again.

More US Hotel, hawt.

Outside, the sun is starting to dip a bit.

Proof that we're in St. Louis, the obligatory Arch shot.

Union Station tower is getting a face lift.

Just a 7-11, on 17th street.

Pine I think.

Olive I think.

Back home, or at least Tara's home, where we went up and napped. We walked a lot. Got back at approximately 5:30, tired, sweaty and completely satisfied with a good day.

We spent just over $38, and enjoyed a beautiful day in St. Louis. Hope you enjoyed the tour. I recognize I'm not a great photographer, but that wasn't the point either.

Pretty! I'm planning on taking my girfriend for a paddleboat ride in Forest Park this weekend.
