I thought it was a Shell in North River. Beside that White Horse Motel is an 18 unit being built. And the building on Garfield that Kays was going to move into I was told that Hansen's bought it

A $40 million expansion of the Charlottetown Airport will start this summer at the end of the building where passengers check in for their flights, and will include more counters, more space for lineups and a larger lobby area.

Is the parliament building in Charlottetown being worked on? I am considering a trip to the Maritime provinces, and would like to see it, but might save PEI for another time if it's closed to the public, parliament is meeting somewhere else, scaffolding covers up some of the building, and so on.

If is it still being worked on, what is the tentative finish date?

Restoration unfortunately is still ongoing. It won't be complete until 2025 at the earliest.

That date is tentative. There have been multiple delays already.

Lots of digging which looks like a foundation going in beside the former Action Truck on Lower Malpeque Rd. It looks like the former building is prepped for demolition, at least that is what it looks like.

Anyone seen or heard anything on what's up here?

Any one notice how slow the permits are posted on the city of Charlottetown? They use to be posted on every Friday for that week. Now it's consistently off by two weeks. For example, this week the May 10th list is the latest.
Something changed because it was never that way last year. I thought they were going to speed things up down there in city hall. We're falling backwards it seems.

Phase II - Empire Development

One thing I like about these Empire Contractors is, there is no lackadaisical attitude towards getting things started.
Unlike APM and others, when these guys say they are going to build, and once they get a permit, there is no delay, construction starts right away. The footings are going in and we should be seeing steel going up in a few weeks.

Pur&Simple

"A new restaurant, Pure and Simple, will open sometime in the new year in a space near The Brick and Sportchek on Towers Road."

This is soon to be started.

I was hoping for some apartments there, but no. It's just a car dealership. When will this city learn that car centric infrastructure and low density zoning isn't the way to go?

If the city is so concerned about climate change, why aren't they allowing high density / mixed use developments and investing in public transit?

Pays to look!! It surprised me as I asked a person who works at the mall if they started and they said not yet! Looks like it's best to find out yourself!!

Well there is three in the area that are given approvals or being discussed. The 98 unit in the Action Truck parking lot, the new one being built now by Empire next to the one that's there now and the Calvary Church proposal of 400 units which they are discussing with planning. Apartments can't have it all.

NEW Population estimates, July 1, by census metropolitan area and census agglomeration, 2021 boundaries

Charlottetown (CA), Prince Edward Island (map) - 90,648

Summerside (CA), Prince Edward Island (map) - 19,795

In the last few years we've seen a huge surge in new immigrants and more people moving back to the island so we would see that Charlottetown number over the 95,000 mark I believe.
Summerside had a slight increase.
