The City of Wakefield is a designated city and metropolitan borough in the ceremonial county of West Yorkshire. It includes Wakefield, and the "Five Towns" of Normanton, Pontefract, Featherstone, Castleford and Knottingley, as well as many smaller towns and villages.
In recent years, the once industrial city has seen an economic upturn due to its location next to Leeds, spurring a lot of commuters to Leeds.
