^ 130 N Franklin is the long shot project I'm really hoping materializes in this boom. Probably pretty unlikely though with all the new office space planned for and currently being added to the market.

Oh sick, the pool is cantilevered out over the edge of the building. Very sexy.

That Indiana elevation is massive. Going to be cool when it is enclosed if they ever decide to order the glass!

I always dreamed of having an infinite pool on the roof of the trump. Aside from vegas, miami and l.a. I dont think i've heard of cool pools on skyscrapers in the US. Im sure thier out there though.

I wonder if the extreme cold has any effect on the concrete and does it take longer to cure and if so how much slower or faster does construction move?

Someone might need to clarify, but i’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter. I remember us talking about it when they poured Trump bc surprise it was barbarically cold then too.

The winter garden at Essex will have an infinity edge pool looking over Lake Michigan. I believe it will be the first in a commercial application in Chicago, but I could be wrong.

Cold temperatures are addressed with set accelerating admixtures in the concrete mix, natural gas heaters under the working deck (which is why you see the white plastic draped under the deck before the pour), and concrete blankets over the top of the pour usually just at the edges. You do not want the temperature of the concrete to change from warm to cold too quickly or it will crack.

However, the frigid temperatures of the last 2 days have effectively shut down concrete operations across the city. The men don't want to work in subzero wind chills.

Nope.

Floors 49-50 are amenities floors. That corner will be open space with a fire pit.

Approaching the first setback along the eastern flank. Another two or so floor to go before that mark is met.
