Here's a look at 7-story Lancaster apartment building proposed for North Queen and East Lemon streets

https://lancasteronline.com/news/loc...56b200d8d.html

Quote:
Historical Commission members seemed to give mostly good marks Monday night to a proposed seven-story apartment building at the corner of North Queen and East Lemon streets, currently a surface parking lot.

The proposal for 347 N. Queen St., which calls for about 72 studio and one-bedroom apartments and a retail space on the ground floor, comes from an upstart developer who told the commission at its Monday meeting he is relocating to Lancaster city from New York because of the project.

“Our project is intended to bring life to a drab corner lot by activating the streetscape, bringing over 100 new residents to downtown and hopefully providing an architecturally significant and aesthetically pleasing building to the skyline,” said developer Matt Richards.

Another from two months ago... Nice to see York getting a rooftop restaurant. Some nice photos in this article. Great to see the historical restoration occuring here too.

Yorktowne Hotel rooftop dining takes shape; facade work will soon begin

https://www.ydr.com/story/news/local...e/65354723007/

Quote:
The Yorktowne Hotel renovations are beginning to shine on the exterior as the Graham Rooftop Lounge takes shape overlooking the city from a lofty top floor. Facade work should soon begin along East Market Street.

Over the past couple of weeks, a patio paver system that is raised off the roof was completed. That will serve as the exterior flooring for the rooftop lounge, according to Kim Hogeman, director of strategic development for the York County Industrial Development Authority.

An existing rooftop structure has been expanded with the brickwork, blending new and old. Elevator service will reach the roof for the first time as well as new stair access. When completed, the rooftop events venue will have a capacity of 150 people outside and 50 inside, Hogeman said.

Years ago I was in a wedding here, it's a beautiful place and this is nice to see. I have spent a lot of time in York and it is rough around the edges but has a neat vibe, has great bones and is in a good location.

Hager Parking Properties adds corner lot to downtown development plan; 150 apartments

pablo16 posted this in a different thread but it fits here too (https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...postcount=5114)

https://lancasteronline.com/business...a12ca183c.html

We've seen this project before but the developers bought the corner lot so now it's a bigger project (by 30 apartments). Hope this project actually happens and that parking lot goes away!

Capital Region Water board approves plan designed to slash pollutants into area water

https://theburgnews.com/news/capital...area-waterways

Quote:
Harrisburg’s utility authority has approved a long-term plan intended to significantly reduce pollutants flowing into area waterways.

On Wednesday, the Capital Region Water (CRW) board of directors voted unanimously to accept changes to a prior agreement that details a course of action to improve the quality of local waters, including the Susquehanna River.

Specifically, the agreement outlines projects that CRW will undertake over the next decade so that the city’s sewer infrastructure will capture at least 85% of system flow during wet weather.
Good to hear.

Downtown Harrisburg apartment project to move forward following City Council approval

https://theburgnews.com/news/downtow...uncil-approval

Quote:
A mixed-use building project planned for downtown Harrisburg has the go-ahead to proceed with construction.

At a legislative session on Tuesday night, Harrisburg City Council approved a land development plan for a five-story residential and retail structure at 512-514 N. 2nd St. The resolution passed with a vote of 6-0, with council member Dave Madsen recusing himself due to a conflict of interest.

Developer Derek Dilks plans to demolish the two dilapidated buildings that currently sit on the property and build a new 5,000-square-foot building with first-floor retail space and seven apartments above.

About 200 new housing units are planned for Midtown, as a Harrisburg-based developer prepares to present its wide-ranging, multi-year building project to the city.

Over the weekend, Midtown Redevelopment LLC held the first of three public information sessions to share its plan, which includes apartments, townhouses, a grocery store and commercial spaces in dozens of long-empty lots in the unfinished Capitol Heights and MarketPlace neighborhoods.

The projects are slated to be on the agenda of the city’s Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board beginning next month, said Matt Long of Harrisburg Commercial Interiors, the project’s general contractor.

Quote:
Thirteen years after the Lancaster YMCA closed its longtime city home at Queen and Frederick streets the final redevelopment plan to remake the area got underway Tuesday with a groundbreaking ceremony for Queen Street Flats.

The new, $100 million project calls for the construction of a four-story apartment building, a five-story apartment building, a three-story medical building, first-floor retail space, and a 440-space parking garage tucked between the medical building and a PPL electricity system substation on an adjacent lot.

The medical office building is slated to open in 18 months with the entire project expected to take two years to build.

Photo taken on 09/24/2022 of the building at 6th and Maclay in Harrisburg. They have a lot of new windows installed and I think it looks really good. I'm excited to see what it looks like once complete!

^^^ I saw that too Seems like it would be good for residents in that area for traffic calming and less lanes to cross on foot.

Harrisburg area folks hate any kind of change, even when it's good change.

Oh I know. It's extremely frustrating at times living in this area how opposed to any kind of change so many people are!

It's one of the reasons why I had to bounce many moons ago, it was too frustrating for me.

Hideous, what a waste of space and destruction of scenic land. Most of Linglestown Rd. is such a disaster now and if there was even just a bit more thought put into the development it would look much nicer:
