I don't agree. More important than the architecture itself is the scale of the buildings and the quality of the public streetscaping. A well-scaled, well-designed neighbourhood of minimalist buildings - especially ones like these that use warm materials - would still be great. Not as nice as an old, character area with a few modern buildings for contrast, but preferable to building faux historic or a mish mash of styles in a newly built area.
