This tower is incredibly beautiful, but do we know if the work has already begun or not? If not, when will it begin and when is the poject expected to be finished?

Those spires don't complement the tower. The whole building has a sophisticated, sleek look to it, but the wires look like a 5 year old just pinned them on at random angles.

Why does Dubai get such a sleek building? One of their best towers going up.

Don't like the "choppy" blocks on this building at all.

I still don't understand why they decided to include Los Angeles in that rendering.

Maybe it's some kind of threat? Who knows...

The artist who did that rendering is probably a fan of the LA skyline?

5 piling rigs now on site.
Remember this tower has more piles than the burj dubai, and deeper as well.

The scale and density of the piling in comparison to the Burj Dubai is most likely a result of it's proximity to the water, vs. Burj's relative proximity. Probably something to do with the level of the bedrock near the ocean. Just a guess.

I remember somebody saying the following about the foundation. Since this tower is 500m straight up compared to the burj which narrows as it gets to the top the wind forces cause sometimes situations where only the piles on one side are holding up the entire tower.
I know what I'm trying to say but I'm bad at putting this stuff into words. This explains it better I think

I am guessing that it is to help fine tine the damping system and to provide valuable data to ensure the load limits are not being exceeded by wind forces, lever arm (moment) being transferred to the piles.

In exteme circumstances when there is a big gust of wind trying to blow the tower down some of the piles may be acting in tension to resist this over turning load. So when in tension the remaining piles farthest from the windward elevation, will now be holding up the weight of the entire building on their own. It would be handy to know if this situation is developing or if the piles are/ or have reached their limit state.

This is a very tall and slender design which is pushing the boundaries of technology. Data from these cells will prove if the engineers have got their sums correct or not

Anyway more updates. This time on a friday which is almost always a day off so that's why you don't see the workers.
