the last few posts left me thinking, has *any* residential built in the last, say, 50 (60, 70?) years felt like it has a SF feel, however people subjectively want to define that?

anyway, a few from yesterday...

a different angle of block 6W

I think this, on 16th St near Fourth, is new, and I imagine is part of the 16th St transit improvement project

the northern end of Crane Cove Park, next to the Ramp. the thing under the tarp is intriguing

the wrought-iron fence along Illinois may end up being park bench green. I guess I had assumed black

the adjacent parking lot has been paved. on the left is the curve of the berm that will bring 19th St down into the area

I think the mid-block passage at 950 Tennessee is slowly progressing

the Tennessee sidewalk out front

the Minnesota St side

the Tennessee side of the UCSF Psychiatry Center

they recently installed the traffic lights at the UCSF housing at 18th and Minnesota, tho not active yet

the One that needs no introduction

This thread makes me sad now. I used to go to Mission Bay at least once a week for Giants/Warriors games. Haven't been there since the shutdown.

from a few days ago...

work on the bank of the Creek has continued

peek over the fence at Mission Rock. not clear to me if the site is active

a final look at block 3E now that it's complete

the Bayfront Park by Chase Center

Crane Cove Park

2177 Third

hard to tell if the UCSF Psychiatry Center has been worked on recently

block 6W

I think the berm where 19th will head down into Crane Cove Park has gotten some additional greenery

for much of the length of the park, the sidewalk will be inside the wrought-iron fence that lines Illinois (barely seen on the left in the pic). south of 19th St it appears there will be a stretch with no sidewalk, above the parking lot, before it picks up again in front of Restoration Hardware

the north end of CC Park again, with the intriguing metal thing on the left

the sidewalk in front of 2177 Third has been poured, so getting closer to the finish line there

work on the south bank of the Creek

what I think is the last gap in the trackway for the T-Third extension, across King. all the complicated bits have been laid, where the tracks cross over eachother. it's just the final connection to the tracks to the north that's left

to these:

the work on Townsend looks just about wrapped up

looking west from near Fourth

one awkward thing is that many of the utility poles now sit in the bike lane

random things from the weekend...

work on the sidewalk at 950 Tennessee has progressed

looking east from Third across the southern end of what will be the temporary parking lot at Mariposa

benches are being installed in the little plazas on either side of the Vision Neurosciences building. this is the northern end

another angle of block 6W. looking west from near Fourth

New construction cam up for the Marriott Hotel - this one looking south. You can also see more of the Mission Rock development from this angle:

Also, speaking of Mission Rock - new(er) B Block renderings:

cool, thanks 1977! if the camera stays where it is now, we should also be able to see block 9 go up, hopefully starting in the next few months. block 6W progress also visible on the right in the time-lapse

hm, today the formerly north-pointing cam is now pointed more easterly, with a good view of Mission Rock:

from yesterday...

work along the Creek:

work on the hotel has resumed

the bayfront park by Chase Center still looks like this:

lighting has gone in and work around the edges of the parking lot at Third and Mariposa continues. Third St side

Illinois side

where the sidewalk will enter Crane Cove Park on the north end, following an old rail path

cluster of recent projects seen from Tennessee St in Dogpatch

sidewalk on Tennessee side of 950 Tennessee has been poured, with what looks like ample room for additional plantings

... and its mid-block passage through to Minnesota St is shaping up

explored the grand staircase adjacent to 'The Landing' on 22nd St and Texas St, west of the Caltrain station.

the bottom section has landscaping, lighting, and close-up mural (looking back down toward Texas St)...

but as you climb, the landscaping peters out...

... and so, eventually, do the steps. I was disappointed to find it has not been connected to the street (Missouri St) at the upper end, so is not useful to the public at all yet

one more look down

the UCSF Psychiatry Center

plants in the planters, sidewalk party open, almost done at 2177 Third St

more general look down Third from this location at 19th (with T-Third loop track)

the little one at the north end of Tennessee almost done as well

a peek into the mews that will be formed through block 6 when 6W is finished

looking north along Merrimac showing the west side of block 6W

Warriors hotel gets an initial approval

Quote:
Warriors hotel and condo complex wins initial approval
Joshua Sabatini

A city commission overseeing the redevelopment of Mission Bay unanimously approved the Golden State Warriors 129-room hotel and condominium complex proposal, keeping it on track for a groundbreaking next year.

But first it must receive approval from the Planning Commission, which may vote on the project as early as next week, and the Board of Supervisors.

The Commission on Community Investment and Infrastructure unanimously approved of the proposal Tuesday in a 4-0 vote.

The vote approved a change in land use requirements in the Mission Bay redevelopment plan and associated planning documents. The commission, for example, approved increasing the allowable height limit for the site from 90 feet to 160 feet.

The hotel would have 115 standard rooms and 14 suites, along with such amenities as a ballroom, meetings rooms and a fitness center. The 21 residences, on the top floors, include 13 two-bedrooms, six three bedrooms and 2 three-bedroom penthouses.

The complex would include three restaurants, of which two would have outdoor terraces. There is also a spa. The tallest part of the building is 160 feet and steps down to 84 feet toward the bay.

Gretchen Heckman, a development specialist with OCII, said that the approved changes also allow the Warriors the option to change their proposal “in the event the Warriors need to respond to changed market conditions in the residential market” by giving them the option to build up to 230 hotel rooms and no condos. If the Warriors do decide to change the proposal they would have to return to the commission for approval.

As part of the development, the Warriors will pay the required development impact fees, all of which total $14.4 million. As part of the fees, they have agreed to pay a 30 percent inclusionary housing fee and not the required 20 percent, which is an additional $1.3 million for a total of $4.1 million.

I don't remember seeing it.

I can't wait for the green space next to Chase Center though.

I'd be looking forward to it even more if it were going to look like it does in the rendering, since they've grassed over a parking lot in their artistic license. oh well. it is a gorgeous rendering, though - makes me want to live there.

elsewhere...

block 6W

the plaza on the north side of the Vision Neurosciences building is getting a fancy gateway sign

and on the south side... well. we have asphalt with a capital A

but there is always Crane Cove Park

so glad they are leaving the utility lines hanging over the entrances

the corner where 19th St will enter the park area

this one on the corner of Third and 20th didn't turn out as bad as I'd feared from the renderings

the mid-block passage at 950 Tennessee is getting its pavers, among other things

the Psychiatry Center has gotten its first glass (on the Third St side)

the sidewalk on the Third St side of Uber has seen some recent progress after none for quite some time

definitely still a ways to go

the hotel

work along the creek also progressing

nextdoor to MB in Showplace Square, 1 de Haro doesn't look too different than the last time we checked in

the CCA student housing has lost the rest of its scaffolding/shroud

looking into Hooper St, with CCA itself across the way

the west side. not sure, but looks like they may be reclaiming an irregularly-shaped patch formed by the awkward intersection of the two street grids there (the grids had once been on opposite sides of Mission Creek so it didn't matter as much)

in the June 2020 Potrero View (which I don't see online yet), there were two things of note:
  1. the aim is that Crane Cove Park will open this fall, though it will still be a work in progress on some fronts:
    1. 19th St will apparently still be under construction
    2. a few items have been deferred until more money can be raised, since bids for the overall work came in higher than expected:
      • the crane tops, which may return as early as 2022
      • a dog run
      • a children's play area
  2. the start date for construction of the public school on block 14 has been pushed back about a year, to spring 2023, with completion slated for 2025

agree it is not a great look, tho I think the idea was to echo the school building next door, so at least there is a reason. and something of a saving grace, this is tucked back in a non-prominent location where it will add a little life without being too noticeable
