Not good if they end up demolishing the Humanities and Admin buildings. Well-run Universities find ways to properly and efficiently maintain their existing buildings and avoid destroying them.

It also says A LOT (coming from a BA alumni) about the U of A's priorities and future direction.

Our newest UDI member, University of Alberta Properties Trust, run by CEO Greg Dewling, achieved a major project milestone this week. Michener Park will be redeveloped to accommodate 1000 new homes! This #yeginfill was approved by #yegcc this week.

Hm, you're absolutely right, I've driven past it quite a few times but obviously have never paid any attention to it

Thanks!

Official Press Release

PRIMAVERA Acquires Development Site from Edmonton Community Development Company

NEWS RELEASE/FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Monday, August 22, 2022

EDMONTON – PRIMAVERA Development Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of a development site on the northeast corner of 95th Street and 106th Avenue in the central Edmonton community of McCauley.

The site will be redeveloped as an arts and community hub intended to provide a permanent home for the Edmonton Sculpture Project. Additionally, there will be space for community amenities such as a day care and coffee shop.

The new development will include components of the four Ring Houses and two East Campus Village Houses purchased from the University of Alberta in 2021.

“It was always our intention to secure a location that would incorporate many of the key components of these homes,” says Kenneth L. Cantor, President. “Equally important was our desire to accomplish that within a project and a community that would pay homage to the homes first hundred years and provide a similar legacy over the next hundred years.”

“Not only is our conceptual planning intended to facilitate that, but we are also particularly pleased to be developing on a site acquired from the Edmonton Community Development Company. We believe our plans complement the mandate from the City of Edmonton to strengthen neighborhoods through social and economic development.”

Please find floor plans attached.

Authur Erickson's Modernist house out at the U of A Botanical.

*I had the pleasure of visiting a few years ago for a retreat and it was something truly special. Sadly, it has not been kept up.

I hope the U of A has plans to rehab the Dyde House, as it would make an excellent cafe venue, event venue, etc. for the Botanical Gardens.

Yesterday I walked through Calgary's evolving University District and was thoroughly impressed with the design, material choices/quality, human scale and overall buildout.

Here's hoping we see stuff like this on South Campus/West 240... let alone Blatchford or Expo.

Nice to see this for a change. Pretty sure I recall quite a party in that house back in 1998.

$1.29M to 1.49M

Asking Price Per Acre
Purchase Guidelines

The various parcels of land are available for leasehold sale of 99 years, individually or in a combined fashion. Architectural controls are in place along with a Master Plan Design Guide. All sales require the sign-off of the UAPT Board of Directors. The opportunity will remain open for submissions of letters of intent (LOI) until June 30, 2023. After which, any offers will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition to the LOI, Proponents should give a brief overview of the company outlining its experience, market presence, and potential builtform that should not exceed four (4) pages.

That Michener Park tower isn't staying, is it? If it's not, why would they keep it in that rendering?
