Interesting freeway scenes from your city

Post some pictures and/or interesting freeway scenes and segments from your city.

Phoenix was one of the last cities to finish their core freeway system with the completion of the last segment of the I-10 freeway in downtown Phoenix. Since then it has added a thousand miles of freeway lanes in the metro area. The latest large extension was the completion of the South Mountain Freeway (Loop 202).

Here's the last segment of Interstate 10 to be completed in 1990 connecting Santa Monica CA to Jacksonville FL, notice the traffic in this March 2021 street view image:
https://goo.gl/maps/26sh2Viv2DVbwZQj6

Here's the Loop 202 (78 miles in length with HOV lanes along the entire length of the freeway), view of Tempe. Construction in this segment was completed in the mid 1990s.
https://goo.gl/maps/mby5DD1FnHN7ygiJ6

Here's the Loop 202 through East Phoenix/Tempe border, near the airport. On the left side of the freeway you can see Light Rail tracks leading to the maintenance facility.

i guess the view from midtown st. louis looking west (away from downtown) into a large viewshed of the first half of the twentieth century to the horizon. the lower deck is dominated by a large 1920s armory.

1990s SMOG along the Squaw Peak Parkway (changed names to Squaw Peak Freeway, then changed names again to Piestewa Freeway, named after a woman that was KIA in the war). One thing is for sure, smog makes for great lighting! The median area in the picture added HOV lanes a long time ago.

Los Angeles, Arroyo Seco Parkway.

Photo by me, taken October 2020

The tunnel is one of the original Figueroa Street tunnels (there are a series of them built in the early 1930s), and originally had 2-way traffic. It became part of the Arroyo Seco Parkway in 1940, the oldest freeway on the west coast of the US.

I don't personally have a photo, but I think one of these best freeway scenes is the Downtown Connector through Downtown Atlanta.

This interchange is pretty cool. Notice the dark rocks and rock art along the embankment. This stretch of freeway opened in December 2019. 3 multipurpose lanes + 1 HOV in each direction (rush hours) with lighting in the median. The area to the left is Indian reservation, won't be developed, the area to the right is Laveen (Phoenix city limits).

Loop 610 in Uptown Houston. The top photo was taken in 2005. The bottom was in 2008. I believe this stretch of freeway is currently undergoing its 2nd redo since then.

I-25 has a big ol’ curve that wraps around downtown Denver. I’ve always been somewhat fascinated and impressed by it despite the fact that there’s basically a perpetual traffic jam in each direction through that stretch.

Here's the photo that is always used to bash Houston and its car culture. It should be noted that the image is highly compressed
by the use of a long lens. By the same token, the freeway really is that wide...purportedly the widest on the planet. It's also a lot
less scary to drive on than it looks.
