they're waiting for the manufacture of a vast trove
of cor-ten steel for the bad-ass redesign . .
the upgrade will include sharp spikey rusted spires
20 of them of irregular height, for the crown . .
extensive exposed cor-ten trusswork & industrial
strength brasing . . as well as heavy vertical ribbing . .
the aggressively slender, asymmetrical steam-punk
tower will rise menacingly tall . . and radically
transform Gotham, as no other skyscraper in NY history
. . well, that's what ya wanna hear, dont cha ? . . I do .

Reading and trying to decipher his autistic rants is half the reason I still come to these forums.

Life has been discovered at the site. Some progress. One small step for man, one giant leap for 45 Broad.

Interesting construction details from interview with Robert Gladstone, developer of 45 Broad:

What’s the status of the 45 Broad Street project?

It’s still in the foundation stage. We had several methods presented to us to do the foundation. The building sits on rock, but the rock is 45 feet down. We had ways that would have shaved six to nine months off the foundation process and $5, $6, $7 or $8 million off of it.

We chose two years ago to go in the direction of this substantial foundation. We have 470 vertical elements [concrete rods drilled into the ground that create a wall] on the bottom floor—which is 9,000 square feet. It’s something called secant piles. We’re grabbing rock at all these locations.

All the drilling and piling is now completed and now we’re starting on the actual pouring of the foundation. That will go on for four months and it will have taken us two years to do this and a lot more money then we wanted to spend. But the elevators will work perfectly because they will be sitting on solid ground.

Great. I would like some more detailed renderings released for this one also.

CetraRuddy’s Supertall 45 Broad Street Finally Appears Ready To Rise, In The Financial District

Quote:
YIMBY recently checked in on the status of 45 Broad Street, where a CetraRuddy-designed supertall is slated to rise 1,115 feet above Lower Manhattan. The site of the Financial District project, which is being developed by Madison Equities and Pizzarotti LLC, appears primed for the beginning of construction. When YIMBY last visited the site in late December, a number of piling machines and excavators were in position on the narrow piece of land. Looking through the green construction fence now, this machinery has been removed and the dirt is mostly leveled off. While no signs of recent work were visible, there are some lines of exposed steel rebar sticking out from the ground along the northern and southern perimeter of the site. We hope to see vertical progress in 2020. The Art Deco-inspired skyscraper will make a significant impression on the skyline with its curtain wall of elegant, reflective, sleek lines that top off in a sloped, golden crown.

A recent interview with Madison Equities’ CEO Robert Gladstone in Commercial Observer stated that the project is still in the foundation stage, but is about to commence with the pouring of foundations. This phase in construction is reported to take a total of four months to complete. Gladstone is also pleased with the initiative to help create a new pair of subway elevators for the Broad Street station for those with disabilities. This contribution is due to the Department of City Planning’s “subway bonus” initiative that allows developers to help fund subway improvements in exchange for zoning benefits for a construction site adjacent to a subway stop.

The time frame for the rise of the superstructure above street level and a completion date have not been announced yet.

Right, I feel like we've heard this 5 times already. 6th is the charm I guess?

It's not in their best interest to wait around though... plus they acknowledged taking extra time with the foundation.

Madison brings in someone else as Pizzarotti is no longer able to do the job...

Hopefully things can get back on track soon, as this is one of the most gorgeous, exciting projects going on in the NYC market(or really any US market)!

Latest outlook via 45 Broad:

Quote:
WEEKS OF 7/22 + 7/29 + 8/5

We will be coordinating foundation work with contractor, subcontractor and design professionals. There will be no active construction work during this period.

Sounds like Pizzarotti sucks, good thing they're out of the picture.

I hope this doesn't put too much of a damper on the project though, not sure how complex the changing contractors process is
