Lima Peru

I just returned from a trip to Peru, and spent 2 nights in Lima, it was an amazing, interesting city, just insane traffic and contrasts, getting around is a bit tough, and busses are a bit hard to figure out, luckily UBER is cheap. We barely scratched the surface and will definitely be a place to get back to. No real order just random.

the air bnb we used was nice and gated

Kennedy Park is a park full of stray cats that are well taken care of, there were areas on Saturday night with people dancing, people selling trinkets, etc. a very bustling gathering hang-out space

Earlier that day. Waiting for a bus on one of the main streets, this route will take you from the historic centre area to Miraflores, it was a good 45+ minute bus ride, to walk it would be over 2 hours.

My husband spent a good bit of time there in the late 90s and early 2000s, around the time when Shining Path was at war with the government of Peru. He said that one, you could stand on the balcony of his friend's high-rise apartment and hear the bombs going off here and there, and two, eventually everyone just learned to incorporate it into their daily lives. If, for example, a restaurant where you had made reservations got firebombed, everyone would get together to figure out where to go instead, and you had to make sure you abided by the curfew or else you might end up sleeping overnight in a park.

Real Plaza, is a large shopping plaza with many brands like H&M, Adidas etc. There is also a large Sheraton hotel which is situated next to a large underground transit station for rapid busses. We got off at this station and walked to Chinatown and eventually El Centro Historico.

This near where we stayed, we were in Barranco, this area is where Barranco and Miraflores border each other and to the south was Santiago De Surco, which was a little more underdeveloped in comparison

Very nice photos! It's always great and interesting to see South American cities on here.

Peru is definitely on my bucket list! I'd be having Peruvian food all the time.

Thanks, Lima was a fascinating place, and I liked most of the Peruvian food I ate, lots of potatoes

I've been to Lima twice and it's really an interesting city. As you said, it's a city of contrasts... and yes indeed the traffic is quite bad. It needs a much more robust transit system. But it's an amazing city nonetheless. Nice photos!!

Agreed, is that the Vatican Embassy? The Pacific coast of South America is a very interesting and beautiful place in general Peru and Chile are underrated countries with underrated capitols. Lima has amazing architecture from the Spanish Colonial period just a hint of the massive wealth that came from the area.

thank you it really is a photogenic city. That is part of the Cathedral of Lima, the main church which is at the Plaza De Armas, on the same plaza is the Presidential Palace.

We only had 1 full day and a half day so we didn't plan too much and just did what we could, will definitely make a visit to the city again.
