I imagine so. The walkway on the new bridge is intended to integrate with the trail systems on both sides of the river.

Just imagine, soon you will be able to do the grand loop by walking or bicycling (via the Gunningsville Bridge and the causeway replacement) on both sides of the river without having to have any dealings with traffic.

It'll be quite nice.

Restoring Full Tidal Flow

Phased Approach
Phase 1: 2008-2010

This phase involves preparatory work before opening the causeway gates including:

- Erosion protection at locations downstream of the causeway (including the former Moncton Landfill);

- Drainage improvements at the causeway traffic circle to prevent flooding, and

- Dyke and aboiteaux construction upstream of the causeway to protect agricultural land.

I knew some work had been done to stop, or at least slow down the constant flooding issue but it's nice to know what was done.

On another note: They seem to have been 4 years off on the construction dates , and that is not counting the time it will take to build, and connect the new bridge. 4 years is a long time in construction.

Riverview High School (Only 2.5 years old) Might be seeing an Expansion. The school is nearing 89% of it's capacity this year but is estimated to see a very large boost in Students bringing them over the 100% Capacity, and they would rather see it expanded then have those portable classrooms added on.

edit

To note, it's Riverview East School and not the high school.

Lots of new school construction in greater Moncton over the last few years. Compared to most of the province, this is a good problem to have.......

We've had at least four new schools built in Fredericton the last few years as well.

Active Riverview recently installed 2 bicycle repair stations. I find this really cool and think Moncton/Dieppe should install some too.

I thought it was going to be mini micro-homes. I guess they can change their mind.

Provincial funding for Riverview's new Cafe.

It seems the province has issued the town of Riverview with 150k for a new Cafe as part of the town Downtown beautification.

The cafe will be in a shipping container, so I'm not sure how "beautiful" it will be.

Still though, I gather it's going in the Riverfront Park, so it's kinda a neat idea.......

The article said that the 150K will pay for the shipping container cafe, park benches, and bike racks, all on Riverfront Park.

The guard rails and light standards have been installed for the causeway detour onto the marsh.

The detour starts a distance down the causeway and then swings back right at the gates.

I am thinking this is where the bridge is being built, and where they will realign the river by digging a new channel.

that is an expensive detour. It will be interesting to see how a new channel affects/ river flow and the tides

Hell yeah! Moncton could easily install a few of those along the riverfront and Centennial Park.

I would say about 50% of the length of the causeway

Oh okay, that's not bad, the photo posted made it difficult to tell because of compression etc., that tends to happen with long distant photos.
