Every time I look at this, it reminds me of a better proportioned OMP. With the glass going up, the comparison is even more striking. I just wish its similarities extended to the height as well.

I still really hope they light the crown up like OMP.

Exactly, the massing is much more appropriate and won't leave half the building looking so fat from certain angles(which is my main problem with the backside of OMP)

I think this one is going to make a much bigger impact than people think. It would have been so much better if they would have added another 10-15 floors. As i said earlier I still hope they light up the crown with color.

Nice shot. Reminds me of a less sexy version of the Lexicon in London.

^ It's remarkable how much higher quality facade treatments (and glass curtain walls in particular) are here compared to the US.

Pretty amazing what having land values that are 3-4X higher on average will do for you!

Seriously, it's not the US, it's cities like London or NYC and then cities with much lower housing costs. You can't afford to build condos that you sell for $500/SF and spend $100/SF on the facade. When you are building something that's worth $2,000 or $3,000 or more per SF, then you can basically do whatever you want.

This is probably true. It's a shame though. You would think lower labor costs could offset some of this.

Isn't some of it regulatory as well? I thought you couldn't have clear glass in Chicago, and tinted glass shows more imperfections.
