Did they do that on purpose, to get a different finish than the forms give? When cutting off a slice, too thin causes problems. At least with wood it does.

Maybe the forms slipped a bit when that floor was being poured.

SHoP can design anything in the city. I welcome that.

Rental site is up. Prices high. Studios are worth equivalent of 500k places by the rental amounts.

Yes, prices are high (especially higher up! wow) But when I lived in the West Loop 3 years ago, I paid $1600 for a convertible unit just a few blocks south/west from there. the rooftop deck had an amazing view (now blocked by River Point). So yes, the prices are high but not too much higher for the area. If this was on the market when I was looking to move into that area I would've definitely snatched one of the lower 1 BR.

Thankfully I realized that I could afford to buy a much larger place in Edgewater with an awesome view and have a mortgage payment that's half from that rent downtown

They are smart to build WPW and get this rented now to get the real money out of people while the eastern view still lasts. I wouldn't mind having the south view on its own ,but not seeing the east branch architecture is a big loss visually. Wait, does that make me nimby!?... The sundeck has got to be such a great amenity. Outdoor tvs and grills? Check.

Once WPS is constructed, the East (Main) Branch views from WPW will be gone, the WPW ground level "sundeck" will be shaded most of the day and good views of the South Branch will be limited to those lucky enough to live at the south end of WPW or have balconies on its west side that face south.

For such a beautiful building to be overshadowed by WPS and be invisible from most of the Main Branch is an insult to the work of WPW's architectural team. But, WPW was always a mere appendage to maximize revenue by building over the Riverwalk at WP. The big deal at WP is WPS.

Everyone of Jarta's points are valid about WPW. The building is absolutely stunning! Until the south tower is built, this is without question my number one building to rent in when I sell my condo. The only bummer about this building is that the rents are so high
I might have to downgrade to Gateway at West Loop instead.
That said, the sooner the better when it comes to the South tower getting built

Good to hear from ya, 'ole Jarlton boy!!

While WPS may be the centerpiece, WPE (which I continue to place my bets on being a 100% office tower) will have some pretty sweet views, all-around.....certainly to the South and East, and once it clears a certain height (~40% of its way up?) to the North and West as well.....

George and Solar's photos above

Thanks to both of you for really capturing the beauty of this tower.

I've been saying this is an absolute gem of this cycle.......and, man - is it good to be right!

It can not be overstated how high the bar has been set - for not only the remainder of Wolf Point, but for contemporary high-rise design in Chicago overall as well - with WPW. bKL deserves some serious admiration and recognition for their superb work here. A true gem.
