Podium certainly leaves a lot to be desired but this tower is gorgeous and making her presence known from all angles

Poor quality again but this one is really extending the skyline westward

This is the first "big" tower I've seen happen from proposal to completion. Since I got into the world of skyscrapers about 19 months ago. Kind of emotional seeing it finish.

Don't worry. As someone who has been avidly watching skyscraper construction in Chicago since the early 2000's, I can say with confidence that the feeling of seeing new towers proposed, going under construction, and top off never fades.

Enjoy the experience of the tower rising, and be glad in knowing there will be many more to follow

I too have only inexplicably been following the minutia of skyscraper conception / proposal / construction for a bit over three years now, and it's great to see the real-time progress. We should consider ourselves lucky that our interest was stoked during this construction boom too.

As for this tower specifically, it's been said before on this forum, but it's worth repeating how unexpectedly slim it is from the N/S vantage points. I really like it.

Thanks for the pics, Solar!

Man, that garage... so unbelievably fugly. I thought the city banned this sort of exposed above grade parking back in the mid 00's. That glass does absolutely nothing to hide the concrete decks nor the cars that will be parking there.

That happened at Haymarket Square, which was located on several blocks of Randolph between Halsted and Desplaines, centered over what is now the bridge over 90/94.

The Haymarket Memorial - 175 N. Desplaines

Sculpture Commemorates the Haymarket Riot
Drawing on the symbolism of the wagon used as the speakers’ platform during the meeting, this sculpture by Mary Brogger marks the precise location where the wagon stood, and where the historic events occurred.

Not to get too far off topic - this is the history of the area - although I doubt many marchers will be staying at this hotel.

May 1st

The memorial is on the far left (of course)
