I was pretty close, the shot was from a handrail on a bridge

what my camera told me:

Exposure: 0.025 sec (1/40)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 7.9 mm
ISO Speed: 100

and of course, the macro was on.

I've never seen a shot of a snowflake taken from that close!

This is a snapshot that turned out to be pretty cool. I still had the camera at f/8 and ISO 100 from the previous shot. I wasn't really paying attention to the settings, and the shutter speed ended up being 1/13 seconds. Even at 17mm, that's pretty slow for a handheld shot. But I was lucky and managed to hold the camera steadily enough to keep the background sharp while getting motion blur on the pedestrians.

I really like your photos maconahey . For not being an exclusively photo site, this forum has a good number of gifted photographers, and this thread proves that.

Nice photos. Both the yellowish, lamps giving the colour I suppose. And the bw underlining the night-time. Snow is hard to give a good presentation. You have made it great Goody!
