Having lived in NYC for years and seen this dozens and dozens of times, just assume any building with silver glass will wind up blue and the muted trim around it will wind up very bright white.

I think there is something around cost of glass that pushes everyone to certain hues.

They're like the things on the eyes that only let horses look forward, but for programmers.

You're probably right about that. That's the west facing wall, which means the afternoon sun will be pretty harsh. The fins don't seem to be on the east facade. The south facade also has the fins, but they overhang from the top of the window where I would expect a lot of sun in the summer to cascade into the building because of the slanted facade.

It's for sun shading. Vertical fins shade most efficiently on the east and west sides of a building, horizontal fins shade on the south side. One of the few instances in Austin I've seen this applied correctly. I also like that it adds some depth to the facade. I don't think people's views are going to be that obstructed.

People's views will be obstructed exactly as I described in post #1363. But thanks for the explanation of how the vertical fins will also provide shade more effectively than horizontal fins from an east/west point of view. I learned something new from your explanation. Curtains are another option... one I would prefer if I were inside the building.

Curtains? I have never seen curtains being used in a major office building. Blinds, yes.

Curtains, blinds, semantics, whatever works.

It doesn't affect me though because I'll only be looking AT the building, not out from it.

It looks like they're about to start on levels 21-25 which will be 39,000 fewer rentable square feet than the 5 floors below. This should speed up the construction even more.

oooo! That's a helpful diagram...this should definitely start to speed up. The scale seems off though since it will be noticeably taller than proper.
