I think Winnipeg is several hundred thousand people away from needing a larger arena. We couldn’t even sell out CLC this year. I don’t think an 18000 seat arena will help us.

Apparently they are removing 3 suites in the immediate vicinity of the Bud Lounge and creating loge type booths that are $108k for 4 seats for a 3 or 4 year term. Access to all events.

Needing a new arena has nothing to do with attendance.

Not at the moment. However, upgrading the arena is a band-aid solution. Around 2035, TNSE will be starting discussions about building a new arena.

What better place to put it than by the Forks?

They closed the exchnage restaurant towards the end of the season and it is part of the renos Biff mentioned. Apparently you'll be able to "see the ice" from the renovated restaurant area. Not sure exactly what that means or what it will look like.

These threads are messed up. We are talking about the arena in the Forks thread, police pensions in the transit thread.

It is like Thunderdome in here

Then this isn't a rule?

Or "there are no rules....expect this one....so there's one rule...."?

Well, anyways, about the Forks, lol. The land is owned by the forks and leased out to the developers. Leased out for Ninety-nine years, then broken up to 5 or 4/20 or 25-year extensions after, I believe, for 200 years in total. So no, the developers do not own the land. The Forks want control of what happens to the area. They just need to pull the trigger on development.

That used to be rule # 1 for the old Al Davis Oakland Raiders of the 70s and early 80s

Sorry, I don't know. My info is from someone who is losing their box (they are moving to another one). I would have to think it would be many more than 3 though. They are apparently losing 3 suites which hold 16 each. I would imagine it would be something like they have in Crypto.com in LA.

^ That looks really cool, there are probably more than a few businesses in town that would be into something like that which is kind of halfway between regular seats and a full sized private suite.

Since there is no activity whatsoever on the railside site, maybe we can repurpose this thread for things that are actually happening!

Commenting from out of town, but just spent the afternoon drinking on the Chicago Riverwalk, someone within the city needs to request dollars from Ottawa to raise and concrete the walkways from the Leg to Waterfront Dr. It is absolutely gorgeous here, tons of people and 3 to 4 feet above the river level. Would be open all year round for our largest tourist attraction.

That and make Graham like 8th Ave in Calgary. Invest damn it!
