I remember seeing similar outdoor pools in Montreal. As others have alluded to, it was a great option for an afternoon in the sun and swimming. Nothing fancy, a pool, lifeguard, some chairs and washroom/changeroom. And a low enough cover.

I wish we had something like this...

Ottawa does have 9 outdoor pools like this. Unfortunately, all but 1 are in Kanata/Nepean.

What do you mean, the fact that there is a slide?

What about the Crestview Pool? General Burns Pool? RA Centre Pool? Corkstown? Entrance? Long Island Aquatic Centre? These are just the good ones I know about, not including the myriad of wading pools.

If you wanted a slide, Kanata Wave Pool and the Goulbourn Pool both have pretty good ones. It used to be only Saturdays at Goulbourn, and it was $1 for access to the slide all day lol

Splash Wave Pool on Ogilvie Road which is where I learned to swim when it was known as Gloucester Centennial Pool.

Toronto has both Canada's Wonderland as well as Wet N Wild up in Brampton (formerly Wild Water Kingdom). Both within driving distance.

There's a difference between a public pool, probably free or very cheap entry fee, and waterparks.

Ottawa could certainly support 10 outdoor public pools, but not so sure about more waterparks. Maybe an indoor waterpark with fewer slides and rides, but open all year, but not another outdoor.

Mont Cascades experienced a 25% drop in visits compared to pre-pandemic due to climate change, frequent (maybe too frequent, according to them) Environment Canada warnings, school bus driver strikes and other factors.

Meanwhile, Calypso's traffic has gone down 15%-20%. They believe by end of summer, they'll have a fairly typical year.
