Salt Lake's skyline is pretty small, so, getting a good glimpse of it from far away is tough - extra tough when you add in the topography (the mountains). But here's the skyline from the Great Salt Lake's Antelope Island, which is maybe 15-20 miles west of the city:

The beast is growing. Imagine when the Humber Bay+ Yonge and Eglinton +DT Toronto skylines merge.

The LA shot is probably from Griffith. A shot from the Getty would show the skylines of Westwood, Century City, Mid-Wilshire, Koreatown, etc. in front of the downtown skyline.

You can see Brentwood, Westwood, Century City, Wilshire and Downtown all lined up from Temescal Canyon in Pacific Palisades. Pretty awesome.
About 15 miles, I guess

That's from Getty. I zoomed in on that specific area. I have another wider pic where Wilshire skyline continues onto the left. I have shots from Griffith as well but recall it being a lot closer more to the direct north of DTLA.

I've looked at this photo dozens of times now and I remember how idiotic I felt flying west out of SLC not realizing how big is the Great Salt Lake, but am I looking at water or a dry lake bed?

Antelope Island appears to sometimes not be an island, presumably depending on lake levels.

Here is Buckhead Atlanta from Kennesaw Mountain, you can see a portion of midtown on the far right:

And Downtown Atlanta from the same spot but zoomed in:

Right. At the moment, it's dry as fuck as Salt Lake, and Utah, is in a drought.

Here's an example of the island from 2002 and 2003:

Also another photo of downtown from the island:

Oh, yeah, I'm very reluctant to call it that. I used to rush to watch the beginning of Married with Children because I was excited to see it in the credits.

I feel the same way about the Williams Tower in Houston, which had a much cooler name of Transco Tower until several years ago.

For me, it was Dallas and Miami Vice.

Just something about sunbelt cities, I suppose?
