In the case of Switzerland (Zurich), I remember that the single tramway ticket costs almost 8 euros. Amazing country, but that hurts

Luxembourg: Gare Centrale

City: Luxemburgo
Canton: Lëtzebuerg
Set: Central Station (Gare Centrale)

The Gare Centrale of Luxembourg is the main railway station serving Luxembourg City, currently operated by Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, the state-owned railway company. 80,000 passengers use this station every day. It is the hub of Luxembourg's domestic railway network, serving as a point of call on all but one of Luxembourg's railway lines (the exception being Line 80, which only stops at one station in Luxembourg). It also functions as the country's international railway hub, with services to all the surrounding countries: Belgium, France, and Germany. Since June 2007, the LGV Est has connected the station to the French TGV network. The station is located 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of the city centre (Ville Haute), to the south of the River Pétrusse.

How easy is it to get to Luxembourg from Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, or some of the big German cities?

I took the direct train from Brussels, who ends at the Gare Central of Luxembourg, just within the city center. If you come from Paris or Amsterdam, I believe that you have to change the train at Brussels. Someone from the region could confirm this however.

Sargans, Switzerland

City: Sargans
Canton: St. Gallen
Set: Town Overview

The city of Sargans, near the border with Liechtenstein, is known for its castle, which dates from before the founding of the Swiss Confederation in 1291. Sargans was also a County of the Holy Roman Empire. It was incorporated into the Canton of St. Gallen in 1803. Most of the town was destroyed by fire in 1811. Sargans is at the juncture of the railway lines connecting Chur with Zürich and with Lake Constance, built in 1859. The line to Vienna was added in 1884. The Saar was first canalised in 1858 for the construction of the railway station and again in 1978 for the construction of the A3-A13 motorway junction.

It surely would hurt people in our countries, but these little Swiss bastards don't even care at all.
Their median income is something like €70k a year, or even slightly greater.

You know what's a madly good deal? Working in Switzerland while being a resident in France where life is 2 to 3 times cheaper.
It is hard to be better off than anybody living on the French-Swiss border.

I can see that it would be a great deal to do that. I imagine that the same applies to Northern Italy.

Castle of Sargans

City: Sargans
Canton: St. Gallen
Set: Castle of Sargans

The Castle of Sargans, rather small in comparison to the collection of the castles of Switzerland, was built by Hugo of Türbingen, heir of the territories of the Counts of Bregenz, at the end of the 13th century. This small dynasty was later dissolved with the sale of the castle and lands to the House of the Habsburgs. Currently, it is main museum and cultural center of the city of Sargans.

While tomorrow we go to Vaduz-Schaan on the thread, the capital city of Liechtenstein, this is the train trip between the swiss-Liechtenstein border and the town of Sargans:

There are direct trains (TGV) from Paris, they depart from Gare de l'Est.

^ Wow, I didn't think that most the route would be actual HSR infrastructure, but it actually is!
Thanks to the Paris-Strasbourg line.

Notice that of course, going to Switzerland's main towns from Paris by train is relatively easy as well.
We're just the most easily accessible city by rail in there; partly due to our location, though.

Capital of Liechtenstein: Vaduz

City: Vaduz
Municipality: Vaduz
Set: Quick City Overview

Vaduz is the capital of Liechtenstein and also the seat of the national parliament. The town, which is located along the Rhine River, has 5,450 residents. Although Vaduz is the best-known town in the principality internationally, it is not the largest; neighbouring Schaan has a larger population. It was on January 23, 1719, that Liechtenstein became a sovereign member state of the Holy Roman Empire.
