Love your photos. Portland sure has changed since I was last there in 1996.

Glad you enjoyed them! And as somebody who moved here a week before Covid hit, it's changed a lot even in just the time I've been here. Some photos from the first thread span from 2020-2022 tho so, just like the weather, some photos don't represent what the city is like from one moment to the next haha

It looks nice, but many people who live in Portland and Seattle tell me that both cities are overwhelmed with crime and homelessness.

I'm not gonna argue that both became big issues in the last few years but I certainly wouldn't say it's been overwhelmed either. To some degree i think Portland has been caught off guard by problems that more established cities were already prepared to deal with. It was the kind of city where people wouldn't lock their doors so many residents just weren't acclimated to things that are pretty normal in bigger cities. Broken windows have been a problem as well but largely because you dont see things like metal bars or roll down security shutters like you'd find in almost every other metropolitan area. In my opinion and having lived elsewhere, I think Portland got used to being a safer city for so many years that when there was an increase in crime it became more politicized and more of a talking point than if there was a similar fluctuation in the crime rate elsewhere.

I’m not looking to argue. Multiple People from both cities have told me that.

Thank you!! It started off as just some random photos from the first 2 years of living here and slowly turned into a bit of a passion project
