Damn, there are too many developments to keep track.

Congrats to Chicago on a steady supply of LED-adorned cranes for years to come.

Massing on the Onni site looks a little messy but I like the height. Lets hope official renderings get released soon.

OT: Was gonna post this in the BMO Tower thread, but it was locked. Rather familiar design from Goettsch headed to Charlotte...

I had the same thought. It might fly in the face of the argument that buildings are designed for their specific location / culture / limitations / program, etc. but hey, if it you can get more mileage for the specs, why not right?

^ the romans slapped corinthian columns on just about everything they built all across their vast empire 2,000 years ago, so architectural recycling is not really a new concept.

Forgive my completely uninformed (and lazy since i'm not researching it myself) question: but what ever happened to the Chicago Spire project? I think if I remember right construction began years and years ago and was ultimately halted.

Is the site still as it was years ago (I remember a deep circular hole)? Is something else proposed/planned by this point? Is the spire still going to be built? Or has something already been built?

^ the old spire project is 100% dead and has been for over a decade now.

the site is still a vacant lot with the big exposed circular foundation pit.

click the link below to learn all about the current 2-tower proposal for the site:

CHICAGO | 400 N Lake Shore Drive | 875 FT & 765 FT | ? & ? FLOORS

Please continue all discussion about the project in the thread linked above.

225 N Elizabeth was issued a new construction building permit on Tuesday. From Sterling Bay with 350 units.

It's always a minor bummer when new buildings obscure popular murals, but I feel this one more than the others. I rode the brown line every day for many years, so this black banner was a fixture of my day.

Oh, well. Moving on, I guess.

Well, there's at least going to be an homage to it in the new building's lobby. It's been discussed before in this thread. I can't remember which site reported on it.

I'm actually pretty happy for this one. Not because of it's design, but because it's another building that will burst out of an immediate area that seemingly has very little right around it......

It's tall compared to 900 W. Randolph, but for that area, it's going to make an impact. At least until more buildings break ground..... Chicago YIMBY has some photos of the current state of the site:
