Project: BILTMORE TERRACE HOTEL

Quote:
Demolition of the old Biltmore Terrace at 87th Street and Collins Avenue began earlier this month, pretty much sealing the Morris Lapidus-designed hotel's fate. Developers Terra Group have just submitted plans to the Miami Beach Design Review Board for its replacement, an as-yet-unnamed, minimalist, pill-shaped seventeen floor condo tower designed by starchitect Renzo Piano (Kobi Karp is the architect of record).

Completely eschewing the hotel portion of the project, which Terra had originally planned, the tower will have a mere 64 very luxurious units. The ground level, with landscaping designed by West 8, is designed to give the appearance that the North Shore Open Space Park, to the south, is continued on the north side of the building, by the use of a private garden. The pool is placed on the ocean side, preserving this flow. Parking is totally underground, echoing a trend also seen at other towers like Jade Signature, and Faena House, leaving the ground level for green space. Finally, delivery truck and utility access for the building is rather ingeniously hidden in a low outbuilding on the north side of the proper

Thanks! I remember where it is. I remember where we went to the beach. We parked at outside parking garage and we had pay a parking. I know where they are. It was between Johnson St/Michigan St.

Do you know what name of a new hotel?

I think it's literally called Margaritaville Beach Resort. Jimmy Buffett's being the brand name. Lol, if theres something about S Florida, its that they stick to easy names. Well, exception of anything on Biscayne, which then becomes an a number game. Example being 1010 and 1100 Biscayne. Two developments, yet it can get confusing. So many Biscaynes and Ocean Drives ...

HFZ Capital plans major revamp of the Shore Club in Miami

Quote:
From the South Florida website: The Shore Club in South Beach is about to undergo a major transformation, as New York-based HFZ Capital Group plans to turn the storied, oceanfront property into a five-star hotel and condominium. Ziel Feldman, founder and chairman of HFZ, told The Real Deal that the firm’s plan is to revamp the 309-room hotel at 1901 Collins Avenue into 100 hotel rooms and 75 residences. The developers have brought in Isay Weinfeld, a Brazilian architect and designer, to lead the redesign, marking his first large-scale project in Miami. Enzo Enea will oversee the landscaping. As a next step, Feldman said he soon plans to announce a deal to bring in a “five-star hotel brand” to elevate the property, HFZ’s first project in South Florida. HFZ has submitted its plans to the city of Miami Beach, and is seeking approvals for the property, which was built in 1938. “The buildings are in the historic district so you can’t tear the buildings down. You need to restore them, and our 21-story tower will potentially have a whole different look, with a facade and exterior.”

Aerial Photographs Of $425 Million Dolphins Stadium Renovation

Quote:
Below are photographs taken last week of the demolition currently underway at Dolphins Stadium, courtesy of Aerial Photography Inc.

The Dolphins claim that the total cost of the project is $425 million.

On Tuesday, Dade commissioners approved a request for the Miami-Dade County Industrial Development Authority to issue up to $100 million of Taxable Industrial Development Revenue Bonds to finance the project.

In addition to the bonds, the Dolphins say that they are contributing $275 million, with another $50 million to come from a loan by the NFL.

Eastern Nat'l. Bank Moving Out, Building Will Be Demolished For Brickell City C

Eastern National Bank Moving Out, Building Will Be Demolished For One Brickell City Centre
By TNM Staff on February 9, 2015

An office building slated for demolition to make way for One Brickell City Centre is being vacated by Eastern National Bank, which formerly owned the building.

The bank signed a lease to move their headquarters to Dadeland from Brickell Avenue, according to a press release (via TRD).

They have been operating on a lease from Swire Properties. The bank sold their 197,611-square-foot Brickell headquarters to Swire in 2011 for just $13.1 million in 2011. The property, which includes 50,172-square-feet of land, is now worth multiples of that price.

Swire intends to demolish the office building to build the mixed-use 1,049-foot tall One Brickell City Centre. The developer recently topped off several other building withing the Brickell City Centre complex.

I guess Swire is moving forward despite the FAA! Do they know something we don't regarding the final height of the tower? Phase 2 is supposed to start in 2016 so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Hyatt Centric Hotel Set to Open in South Beach in April 2015

Quote:
Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE:H) in conjunction with Miami-based development group Robert Finvarb Companies and its partner David Martins, today announced the anticipated April 2015 opening of Hyatt Centric South Beach Miami, ideally located at the lively intersection of 16th Street and Collins Avenue. This groundbreaking development is one of the most anticipated hotel openings of the year, coinciding with Miami Beach’s centennial anniversary.

Designed by renowned architect Kobi Karp, the 10-story glass tower stands apart from the more traditional art deco developments, providing a beautiful complement to the Miami Beach landscape. The hotel will feature 105 guest rooms, a third-floor deck featuring a swimming pool and an indoor-outdoor dining experience, 700 square feet of meeting space, ground-floor retail, and convenient beach access with chaise lounge chairs and food and beverage service. Situated on prime South Beach real estate, just steps from the beach, Hyatt Centric South Beach will put guests in the center of the action, close to Miami Beach’s premier shopping, restaurants and nightlife venues.
