As much as I want to hate this project for the corny Cheescake Factory signage and the fact that it added virtually zero density to what should be a super high density corner, I just can't help but love if for that gorgeous sleek design.

Saw a group taking soil samples this morning in the parking lot on the 2100 block of Market street between the fire station and the parking lot.

That's great! Thanks for the updated. I was told a couple of weeks ago that there was someone looking to buy this entire stretch along the 2100 block of Market (except the firehouse of course which is owned by the city and not for sale).

100% agreed. I'm not one to wish every project was taller but this one is an exception. It's really one of the most striking and best designed modernist building in the city. Imagine how amazing this would look in our skyline at 600 feet tall. It's still a very impressive building nonetheless.

600 feet of this would be incredible but even just Imagine if it were only 2 or 3 times its current size like 100-150 feet or so. Use the extra floors for condos or office space or both. Even at just 150 feet this building would be so amazing. Such a missed opportunity. I just don't get why they seemingly didn't even try to build taller.

But in the end I do agree, even at its current height it really looks great. Huge upgrade for this corner.

While no where near as beneficial as HR I think the price tag makes sense and maybe a holdover until funding can be put together for HR

What I am unsure of is does this map connect with the BSL at Hunting Park?

Hey Kid, have you or anyone else ever done a mock up of extending one of the chestnut hill lines to the mall? To me it just makes sense since there are a lot of jobs up that way.

not sure there is any substantial ROW to get there, would seem to be very pricey

Would think some spur from the norristown line may make more financial sense

I took a look at it a while ago. Both of the Chestnut Hill lines end at their railheads -- historically interurban trolleys ran along Ridge and Germantown.

The old Reading Plymouth Branch has been turned into a rail-trail, and it misses the main office park hub above the mall. So from a practical standpoint, the optimal solution would seem to be a dedicated Plymouth Meeting express bus, that would essentially go up the Schuylkill to the Blue Route to the mall and then circulate around the office parks. I'd call such a route the "127".

Took a walk down Broad this morning. There is a sign advertising retail availability right by the big vacant field on Broad between Washington and Carpenter. I wonder if they are planning to build something on the field. I bet so! Otherwise, I'm not sure what retail openings they are referring to. I'm not seeing anything else in the vicinity.
