First day of services
Yesterday, the sixth tram line of Paris opened
This is a rubber tired tram guided by a single central rail, a system called Translohr. T5 is 6.6 km long and has 16 stop.

Paris tram network has now 6 lines (T1, T2, T3a, T3b, T4 and T5) 71.1km and 127 stations.
Note that there is only three stations wich provides connection between two tram lines because the lines are dispersed all around the city.
The next opening of a tram line will be the T7 in southern suburbs at the end of the year.

Thanks for the update, Minato. Those trolleys seem hardly larger than a double-articulated trolleybus, so I don't really get it.
Let's see... In Zurich, Switzerland:

http://www.railforthevalley.com/late...-for-the-99-b/

Pretty much the same capacity per vehicle, same kind of power supply, the only benefit on T5 is the dedicated lanes, which is still significant but I bet Zurich's thing is inexpensive compared to the T5 costs, and maybe even more reliable.

That's gonna be too small anyways. People already can't find a seat on your pictures.

EDIT: the T5 vehicles also look more easily low floor, though...

On the oposite the tram T6 under in construction from Chatillion Montrouge to the southwest is not visible.

The extension of line 4 to Bagneux is visible but not the extension of line 14.
The line 15 will have a transfer with the line 14 at Villejuif institut Gustave Roussy.
The tram T7 under in construction form Villejuif Louis Aragon is not visible (opening in the end of 2013) nore the tram Porte de Choisy - Orly (T9 or T10), this line will have a transfer with the metro 15 at Vitry Centre.

Tunnel Grand Paris = Tunnel of the line 15 and 16
Emprise du bâtiment gare Grand Paris = Main entrance building of the line 15 and 16 station

Bâtiment Gare Grand Paris = Main entrance building of the line 15/16 station
Quais Grand Paris = Platforms of the line 15 and line 16
Circulation vertical = Lifts, escalators and stairs
Locaux technique = Technical rooms

This may seem weird to see that the east side of line 15 is treated as a different line while the line 16 is threated as the same line.
This is due to a major change on the project, in the past plan line 16 was the east section of the red line and the line 15 south was the south section of the same red line.
The orange line was a different line serving the eastern inner suburbs with a branch at the south side.

This change as swithed the orange line with the eastern section of the red line.
The south and west section of red line and the orange line became the line 15 (the branch of the Orlange line to Noisy Champs became part of line 11) and the east section of red line was separated of the line and became the line 16.

Nothing better than pictures to understand.

Opening
The 7th line of Paris tram network opened today.
The T7 links Villejuif Louis Aragon with Athis Mons and serves Orly airports and the industrial areas around.
11.2km and 18 stations.
With the T7, Paris tram network has now 81.2km of lines and 145 stations.

Villejuif - Louis Aragon, the northern terminal with a connection to metro line 7 and numerous bus lines.
It was crowded

Athis Mons, Porte d'Essonne, the southern terminal stop.
Right south of Orly, there isn't a lot of thing here, except a mall.
It will stay the terminal until 2018 and the extension to Juvisy a big RER station

That T7 opening makes me jealous. The extension of Stockholm's line 22 tram (more LRT than tram) was a month ago. Apparently had plenty of people, but that lines isn't ready! They haven't gotten the new trams working right yet nor the signalling system (which is also different from the rest of the line, the rest will be converted in the summer after this bit is working well). Result: 4 trams an hour, going slow, with a change of trains needed at the stop connecting to the older section of the line - and they haven't even synched the schedules there.
GAH!

So.... yeah, jealous of the T7 opening.

How's the MF01 compared to the older trains? smoother? better seats? quieter? or mostly just "new"?

The opening ot the T7 wasn't perfect.
There were many stations that weren't fully completed.
Some didn't have the names.

About the ride, except near Villejuif because of the crowd, there weren't any problem. It was quite smooth.
My only criticism, would be the number of curve that slow a but too much the ride.

It is quite different of the T3b that opened last year, the T3b signaling was problematic at the beginning. The tram stopped at every intersection.

The MF01 trains are smoother, quicker, quieter but they haven't better seat, quite the oposite.
Anyway, you need to be lucky to have a seat on line 9 and the MF01 have less seat than the old MF67.

Off peak

Rush hours

MF01 next to MF67 pn line 9.

Porte de la Chapelle
The new entrances have opened.

I don't understand why they have chosen an old style for this stations, Porte d'Orleans new entrances that should open in 2014 have a modern style..
This is quite unusual.

This new entrance and ticket hall is built cheaply with not too much aesthetic effort.
Just by looking the works, I can say that the new entrances of Porte d'Orleans will be better and unlike Porte de la Chapelle which is in poor state, there are renovating the station as well.

For Porte de la Chapelle, I think that the renovation will come later.
