I love the idea of NEMA having a taller twin and even if it’s only ~100 ft taller that would put it in the super-tall range.

I know, right? I lose it over this rendering from time to time:

NEMA is already a huge presence in the South Loop, so to give it a slightly taller twin would make that corner even more eye-catching and dramatic.

An interesting article with some insights to the complexities of the engineering, etc. Intense amount of brain work involved to solve unique challenges of the design.

^Nice. I counted 53-54 floors to current top of core, so about 20 more to go.

Crescent Heights is planning to start and finish at least two more high-rises in Chicago before they even think about doing NEMA II.

They mentioned that when they announced 420 N May. Could you details about this second site you're referring to though

Really excited to see how this one turns out. It's certainly not anything revolutionary but I think it's looking like a nice final gift from Jahn for the city.

I know we're all excited for the West Loop's escalation in development, but wow...the South Loop looks incredibly impressive from this angle. Great photo, SolarWind!

Agreed. I feel like I need to find more reasons to go explore the South Loop for the fact it's sculpted a very dense neighborhood over the last two decades.

^ A nice thing is that this area is actually not THAT dense, so it's super relaxing to walk around, and I imagine the spaciousness also makes this a comfortable place to live. This awesome photo makes it look denser than it really feels.

^^ A big part of that feel is due to how wide the streets are in the South Loop, south of Roosevelt. Michigan and State are very wide, and even Wabash feels that way. Plus there are a number of lower slung institutional buildings and a number of small parks. All that makes it feel spacious.
