Condé Nast Traveler: Chicago tops 5 yrs in a row

Chicago does it again.

5 years in a row as top US big city:

Sure not all is perfect in Chi-Town, but people still love to visit the place.

Not surprised in the least. Chicago is a jewel of a city.

Pretty solid list, although the order is obviously up for debate. Am a bit surprised to not see LA on the list though. Nashville is a bit of a surprise as well.

It will be my first destination in the US. I keep postponing, going to Europe instead, but Chicago is a must go for me. The river, the skyscrapers, it's magical.

Such a great city - this makes sense! I'm planning on leaving Seattle for Chicago here in the next year or so, bad winters or not!

It's the Married with Children fountain. Once they put that baby in things really picked up.

No Philly? No Seattle?

Make sure to take the architectural boat tour (unless it's January).

Definitely! And that's a problem: I usually take vacations on Dec/Jan. One thing it's face the European winter, another thing is Chicago's. I'm a bit anxious about it.

Chicago is magnificent. It's also a place that's great for tourists because everything costs a fraction of what it does in NY, and it's not overwhelming. People from places like Cleveland, DesMoines, Pittsburgh, etc. could relate to it far more than they could to NY (or even Boston or SF).

We do not even get bad winters anymore. Lucky if there is snow on the ground for more than a day before melting.
