Downtown Phoenix Model

Hi Everyone, so I started this project about a year ago during the
summer and I sort of forgot about it until this summer and I’m
continuing it.

Some of you may have reminded I did a very simple model of all the
under-construction, approved, and proposed towers downtown with just
tall colored rectangles but now I’m going to include the designs of
the towers based on the renderings and include more detail like street
level stuff and ground floor things.

A couple of things to say

1 - This project is made in Roblox Studio … and yes Roblox is a kids'
game but there are a few reasons why I’m using Roblox. Firstly, I grew
up making “games” if you could call them games and I’ve gotten used to
using Studio. Another reason is that it will be playable for other
people to play if I ever publish the map. And Roblox Studio is free.

2 - One very important thing to say is that this project is a
one-to-one scale of Downtown Phoenix in Roblox. Roblox Studio uses
studs as its measurements and one meter in Roblox is 3.2 studs. The
old Chase tower in the real world is 147.218 meters, I round to the
nearest whole or half number which would be 147 and then I time it by
3.2 and get 470.4. This makes Chase tower in Roblox 470.4 studs and
here’s an example of the height of an avatar (5 studs) in the red box next to Chase
(470.4 studs)
.
One last thing because I round up the numbers, some
towers will be slightly taller or shorter but it will be by less than
one stud.

3 - And as stated before this model isn’t just going to be the towers
of Downtown, I want to try and do the street-level things, and smaller
buildings, and get into the nitty-gritty of doing the detail for
the entire of Downtown Phoenix which I sort of started around Chase.

I didn’t include 509 W Monroe Tower because I don’t think there are
any renderings of it yet. Anyways, enough out of me, here are some
pictures of the projects starting from the south and going north.
Enjoy

Fairmont Phoenix (250 ft) (15 E Jackson St)

The Edith (211 ft) (116 W Adams St)

X Phoenix ll (320 ft) (201 W Van Buren St)

PalmTower (292 ft) (Van Buren and N 5th St)

Central Station East (371 ft) & West (230 ft) (Van Buren and Central Ave)

Astra l (541 ft) & ll (425ft) (337 N 2nd Ave)

360 N 3rd Ave (365 ft)

Realm Phoenix (332 ft) (601 N. Central Ave)

X Roosevelt (234 ft) (641 N 2nd Ave)

Vela Phoenix (291 ft) (701 N Central Ave)

1st & Pierce St (381 ft)

Saiya (255 ft) (800 N 1st Ave)

Moontower Phoenix (255 ft) (811 N 3rd St)

Skye on 6th (285 ft) (817 N 6th St)

901 N Central Ave (340 ft)

2nd and Portland (270 ft)

I remember someone on the forums talked about how Astra would impact
the skyline from the I-10 on the west side. So here’s a before and
after from the west sides.

Before

After

here are just some photos from around Downtown.

This looks awesome! Great work. The increased density downtown in the last few years has gone exponential!

The changes between 3rd Ave to 3rd St, Fillmore to Roosevelt is pretty incredible. For the umpteenth time, it makes me want to be an investor in a medium sized grocery in that area.

Excellent work. You can really see the difference in the skyline north of filmore driving west to downtown. Add in all these new proposals and it’s gonna look really dense. What’s the estimate on the total number of apartments on all these?

Videos?

Hi everyone, this isn’t really an update as I haven’t had much time to work but should I start uploading videos of my model? I tried creating a short little example but … it just came out as total garbage with the quality. But I promise I’ll have a better-quality video and please give feedback on what I should do.

Example with Astra
