^^^ That would be excellent and add to the growing streetlife in "downtown Hyde Park"...

After the Studio Gang dorms went up north of the Midway, anything less is a disappointment. In any other neighborhood in the city this would be great, but given Hyde Park's design pedigree as of late, this is quite "meh"...

Looks like things are chugging along for 53rd/Cornell, though that sure is a lot of denials.

While I can't get enough of that facade I feel like if it was any taller it would loose its charm

Are you talking about Kinzie Park? Not sure who here loves that, its a terrible, suburban oriented development. Its gated, offers no public riverfront access and it is very low density considering its location. Its literally the River West version of Dearborn Park.

I think he's talking about Harry Weese's townhouses at Kinzie and Canal. The sloping glass is somewhat reminiscent of Solstice.

I think he means the Harry Weese River Cottages. And you can tear them down over my dead body

edit: Somebody beat me to it

^ Ahh, I stand corrected. Yes, those are awesome, and hopefully will be around for a long while.

They are on a small and very narrow plot anyway, so it isn't exactly an attractive redevelopment site as it is.

Love this tower. Does anyone know why the north curtain wall doesn't have the same balconies as the south?

Not yet, but I was down there last month for another project at the University and walked by the site, and saw what appeared to be a full-size mock-up glazing panel on the SW corner of the fenced-in site.

They've started laying brick on the Sophy Hotel and it looks pretty good so far.

In other news, apparently they are planning to reopen the ballroom at the top of the Picadilly building (learned this on Facebook), and there's some kind of plan for the empty lot at 5117 S Kenwood (almost certainly nothing big, but I used to have to walk past it on the way to work everyday and am happy to see it filled).

There's a pending permit for it - 4 stories, 9 units, 9 parking spaces, and a private rooftop deck.
