This is a really unique 3D Project Map made by the city:

https://map.gridics.com/us/fl/fld#12...-80.14565/0/45

Step 1: Click Projects
Step 2: Play around.

RED = U/C
BLUE = APPROVED
GREEN = PROPOSED
GREY = COMPLETED

Even without the existing buildings, it's already a skyline of its own, amazing. And the 3d map doesn't even include all the projects proposed!

Obviously, it's not all accurate as the disclaimer says, but it's mostly correct.

DEAD - AHF Affordable Housing Project

The city denied this 15 story affordable housing project after nearby residents complained. The developers then sued, but eventually sold the land this year.

https://www.bizjournals.com/southflo...auderdale.html

Quote:
Michael Kahane, southern bureau chief for AHF in Fort Lauderdale, said it purchased the vacant land to build affordable housing and then purchased the townhouses to accommodate neighboring residents who weren't comfortable living next to affordable housing. Once the city rejected the affordable housing project, AHF decided to sell the property, he said.

"It's a little frustrating that the city of Fort Lauderdale has articulated that affordable and low-income housing is the number-one need of the city, but we weren't able to build a building that addresses that need," Kahane said.
A missed opportunity for Fort Lauderdale, and eventually AHF went to Edgewater in Miami and they're building a 12 story affordable project there now.

It's also kind of funny how some buildings of the Jersey City skyline are in the rendering

It seems like Hines is moving forward with their FAT Village masterplan, demolition is wrapping up for the site. In other news, the site has been reduced from 2 towers to 1.

New Site:

Old Site:

I've noticed Hines has been downsizing or downright forgetting/stalling some projects. Parcel F in SF, 415 20th Street in Oakland, and 150 South Main Street Apartments in SLC.

Hope they are starting soon. Couple of bulldozers and a portapotty on site, but otherwise quiet.

I do too, I remember reading on SunSentinel a month back that they're planning to break ground from October to maybe November. This will be a huge revitalization for the area.

They have been installing sewer systems on the south side of the Hines site. Hopefully construction starts soon thereafter.

It's a nice a filler and density creator. Love the arched storefront on the first floor, would have been nice if that motif continued on the floors above.

Agreed, I also like the addition of retail. This entire area is a wasteland for retail/commercial unless you go to the new shops along the Federal HWY.

More people are moving in. It’s too overcrowded. Too many people are moving to Florida. I’m glad we don’t live in Florida anymore. This is where I grew up in Hollywood, Florida for 24 years. We left Florida in 2003.
