Our brand new Orthodox spiritual and cultural center in Paris's 7th arrondissement, a gift from Russia.

Controversial because of the mean political environment, still much appreciated over here from a simpe architectural standpoint. It really adds quality to the surroundings.
This is a lovely understated little set of modern buildings in finest materials exclusively. The golden cupolas are the only post-modern touch to it, bringing some cool exotic, Eastern touch and aesthetics, something that we've missed.
We all like it here.

The 7th arrondissement is Paris's very diplomatic district. That's where the main cluster of embassies is...

Ok, this isn't Russian, but it is a Ukrainian Catholic church in Chicago. All images from http://achicagosojourn.wordpress.com

^ I remember going by that church... it's an interesting combination of traditional form with very contemporary style. The picture doesn't fully convey the mirror-like shininess of the various cylinders.

Cool thread. I like the architecture.

Jesus looks a little pissed off in this mural.

The Ukrainian Catholic thing in Chicago looks more innovative, so to say.

Whereas Russian Orthodoxy seems to be seeking comfort in their traditional forms from what we're given to see in the thread. I'll take this trend as a predictable consequence of atheism enforced for so long over Russia during the last century.

Meanwhile, people must dislike the Paris real modern instance I posted earlier when they praise neo-old designs like these...
Never mind.
