Ha, I know! I totally lucked-out with that taxi. I didn't even realize it until I got home, and I was like "jackpot."

Fort Wayne's Amtrak station, formerly Pennsylvania Railroad, built 1912. Photo from 1973:

Fort Wayne (Population 200,000) lost all passenger train service in 1990. Around 2004 or 2005 the passenger platforms were demolished. The station building was bought by an architectural firm and restored and converted to office space, with the main concourse available for public and private events.

Decatur, Indiana, 2005

CFE (Chicago Fort Wayne & Eastern) is a short-line subsidiary of RailAmerica Corporation. When Conrail was split up between Norfolk Southern and CSX, CSX got the former Pennsylvania Railroad lines through Fort Wayne, including a 20-mile branch to Decatur, all that remains of the former Grand Rapids & Indiana that originally ran between Grand Rapids, Michigan and Cincinnati, Ohio. CFE serves a large soybean processing facility at Decatur with one train a week delivering empty cars and taking loads of soy products back to Fort Wayne.

Michigan City, Indiana

The Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad operates electric commuter trains over 90 miles of track between the airport at South Bend, Indiana and downtown Chicago, Illinois. Service is frequent and reliable and trains are clean, if Spartan in accomodations. Normal operating speeds are around 70mph. Michigan City has the only remaining street trackage on the South Shore system.

The photo below is a link. Click on it to see a bunch of South Shore and Chicago Metra Electric photos:

Amtrak's Michigan Service trains pass through Michigan City. One daily, a train between Chicago and Detroit/Pontiac, stops here:

South Bend, Indiana

South Shore train arriving from Chicago, heading for the airport station:

One end of the interior of South Shore car. Seats on each side of the center doors face toward the center. On the current series of cars they're not reversible. The 14 new double-deck gallery cars that I haven't seen yet have reversible seats.
