Two pissed off cats.

So I'm sitting here on the forum and I hear this god awful screaming sound coming from our cat Jodie, that sounds like he's trying to pass a brick. So I look over and he's sitting in the window hunched over. So I get up and go over to see what's up. And outside the window is Snackers, who belonged to my grandma. He's mostly an outside cat, but my aunt who lives next door lets him inside at night when he comes up to the front porch. Sometimes he stays out late and doesn't come in. Anyway, the two of them were SCREAMING at each other. Jodie is young, just a year old and is a small cat. Snackers on the other hand is about 10 years old and fairly good sized. They went back and forth screaming and hissing at each other. Snackers would jump up at the screen attacking the window, while Jodie tried to look tall and mighty looking down from the windowsill. This was the first time they've ever seen each other. We got Jodie back in December.

It's funny though, Jodie gets along with my other cat Jules. Jules is huge though, probably 15 pounds and could probably break him in half.

More pictures of Jodie. I couldn't really get a good picture, but this morning he was sitting in the windowsill stalking a pair of Blue jays on the fence. Blue jays are notorious for having no fear of cats (I've seen them dive bomb one of our outdoor cats in the past). One of them set on the fence screaming at him.

Here's Jodie lounging on the chair and couch.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

I kind of think my cat is nearing his end (19 years, same as me). He's über skinny but eats a ton. I hope he's gone before next winter.

I didn't see him today, he usually follows me around when I mow the lawn. I kind of hope he just wanders off when he knows he's ready. Since I've literally had him all my life it would be tough to see him when he's dying, so I hope I don't have to.

My dog's still good, she's six. But I haven't taken any pics of her recently.

My cat, Shaike (previously shown here) has grown a large and nasty goiter on its neck, I hate to think her days are limited but they are, although she ain't suffering and she hasn't changed. Being 12, and having a goiter doesn't reassure me...and no I'm not showing it.

That sucks.

Hobbes had a growth on his bottom lip for a long time, but now it's gone so I don't know if it was a tumour or what.

Well here's my cats. They pretty much adopted us and started to live around the yard as we ended up feeding them once in a while. First there was one,the tabby cat, then its friend came, the white one.

And then some kittens came along, I only took a few pictures there's four of them in total. How we recognize them, one has 0 black dots, one has 1 black dot, another has 2 black dots and the last has 3 black dots.

My cat Mittens who passed away 2 years ago, had an abscess on his anus about 5 years ago. Right next to it actually. I hadn't noticed it of course, I mean, who looks at their cat's butt? Anyway, he had been acting kind of funny that day. That night he slept on my bed like he did every night. So, I reach over and turned off the light and laid down. Just a few minutes later I smelled this horrible stench. The abscess had burst. It smelled so bad and was really gross. He had a hole next to his anus where the tissue had burst open. We took him to vet. They flushed it out and gave him some anti-biotic shots. I also had to apply daily, a topical cream directly to the area. Don't worry, I had a big box of medical gloves for the occasion. It healed up after about a month and he was fine.

The reason for the abscess was that his anal gland became impacted. Cats and dogs, and a few other small mammals, have what are called anal glands. When you bath your cat and dog it's best to empty it. Especially with indoor pets, since an anal gland is usually used as a defense mechanism. Being indoors, they never use it. Sometimes you may see a dog dragging or rubbing its butt on the ground. This can be because their anal gland is bothering them. You can empty it yourself when you bath them, or have your vet do it. Or if you have your dog or cat groomed/bathed at a store, they can do it. But having it done is important. Having it abscess becomes very painful, and believe me, is nasty if it bursts.

I've done it on my dog, Sophie. With some other dogs it's more difficult. Big dogs typically don't have them, or else expel it when they poop. Smaller dogs and cats tend to have problems with it. The key is to emptying it whenever you bath your dog or cat. The longer it builds up the more gross it gets.

This is Nero, a pure Golden Retriever. He is a service dog...more specifically...therapy dog. He visits people in the hospital once a week, and he makes his rounds at Phoenix Children's Hospital on occasion; which he thoroughly enjoys of course.

Sorry for the blurry image, I snapped this photo with my cell phone camera. He was all exited because we were visiting "grandma" (my mom) on Thanksgiving Day...and he was all excited because there was this big turkey roasting in the oven.
