They are all so cute..

Here is our old family dog. He passed away at age 13 two years ago.

Junior is two years old now. He loves tennis ball.

When he was young:

His favorite exercise in the world: sleep, nap, .. .you name it.

^Beautiful animal! I wonder what animals do when they sleep. Do they have dreams? Do they think or look forward to anything or are they stuck in some permanent "now"?

All these animals are great! I especially enjoy your cat Kevinfromtexas, this photo is particularly sweet:

Oh yeah. They all live in harmony. My brother got his Dalmatian in 1995 when she was just a pup. She turned 12 last September. I had already had my cat Mittens for two years, so she was raised with him. Besides that, Penny, (the Dal) wouldn't hurt a fly. Mittens wouldn't have either. Mittens died in 2006 after he had a few strokes. He was 13. The other cat, Jodie which is the gray one, we got him from my sister's friend a few months ago. He's about 10 months old now. He was raised as a kitten with a pit bull, so he's not afraid of dogs at all. And none of our dogs would hurt him. The only one I would worry about is my brother's other Dalmatian, Flair. She's a bit more wild. Other than that everyone gets along fine. You really just have to let them all know that they all have a right to be here. That sounds goofy, but if you show them they're all part of the "family" then they accept them. I'll walk in the living room and my two dogs Sophie and Lacy will be asleep on the couch curled up next to the cat.

I'm sure animals dream. I know for a fact that dogs dream. Penny, my brother's Dalmatian dreams all the time. She kicks her feet, wiggles her legs and even barks and whimpers in her sleep.

And I'm pretty sure that at least dogs look forward to things. And I'm not just talking about dinner either. I'll go for a walk with my dogs in my neighborhood. My dog Sophie LOVES to go for walks. I'll take the lead out of my dresser to put on her and she goes nuts and gets all excited wagging her tail so hard her whole body shakes. And if I'm not quick enough to get it on her and get to the door then she whimpers in protest.

My dog "Boris" (the real Boris, you all didn't think my name was actually Boris, did you?) who is seven years old:

And his girlfriend Scarlet. She's our neighbor's dog, but we walk her everyday and consider her ours:

HeeHee. You all know by now that you don't have to twist my arm to show pics of my boy, either.
Buddy (aka Monkey Butt, Captain Demando, Fat Boy, Sporty, Sonny Boy, Cow Dog) was rescued by Virginia and her late mother from the pound in April, 2004 as a companion dog for her mother who had terminal cancer and wanted company in her last days. She passed away in March of '05 and Buddy made her last days quite enjoyable. Virginia took over the boy after that (but he does call me dad). He's somewhere between eight and ten years old, not sure and probably 80% deaf. And, oh yeah, he's also the most spoiled dog EVER!

Virginia and Buddy watch the Christmas parade.

With his neurotic Yorkie girlfriend.

^ Me too! If I'm crazy for having a lot of animals and loving them, then well, I'm crazy.

I had a little scare with my dog yesterday. Sophie, my miniature poodle got a hold of a stuffed toy that my other dog had chewed up. Anyway, she swallowed a piece of it sometime either late Saturday or early Sunday. It was almost the size of a hot dog. She barfed half of it up Sunday morning. The other half though stayed put. Yesterday she was not herself at all. No tail wagging, not running around and having fun. She wouldn't eat or drink and didn't pee or poop last night. I was so worried. Today we were going to take her to the vet if she wasn't better. But this morning I got up and she was feeling fine. I took her outside and let her go poop and she got it out with no trouble. And she's doing fine now, back to her old self.

You really have to watch dogs like you do with kids.

HaHa! Kaiser just made my day a little better.

Glad Sophie is doing better, Kevin. I would not have slept very well.
What's really scary is when they run off. My boy, Buddy, did that last April, 17. (a day I will never forget) when the dogsitter let him out at noon and didn't watch him. She didn't let us know until 5 hours later when we got home from work. It was in a area of town with many busy streets and other dogs (he's pretty small and NOT a fighter). Me and Virginia looked for another 5 hours and I knew in my heart that he was gone for good. What a horrible feeling. Every awful scenario possible went through my head. But I had to try and get some sleep since I had to get up at 4:00AM......Anyway as it turned out, the whole time we're looking for him and worrying ourselves sick, Buddy was living it up a few blocks down. At around 10:00 PM, as Virginia was hanging a "Lost Dog" sign, she saw a "Found Dog" sign. She called the number and when she got to this guys house, there was Buddy, sitting on his couch eating Kibbles and Bits. The guy who found him said he saw him sitting on the corner looking lost at 12:30 PM so he was on the streets for only a half hour after all.
That was the dogsitters last day with us.
