another look at the work being done at the western end of the Commons, hopefully the start of connecting Mission Bay Blvd to the roundabout and (along with the linking of Channel and the roundabout) establishing what will be the normal street grid and - unfortunately - traffic flow through the residential portion of MB.

I just noticed that it looks like ground has broken on Uber's Mission Bay buildings on 3rd.

Very frustrating that some of those roads have been done for months and not put into use.

Also, what's up with that graffiti-covered half of a warehouse that hasn't been torn down yet?

I assume it will be torn down when the parcel it sits on gets developed?

The north part of mission bay will be done ... and it only took 15 years.

(to be fair, all but this parcel "only" took 10)

there's definitely at least some preliminary stuff going on over there... this is from the South St parking garage roof:

... and from street level

a few shots of the newly-opened Mariposa Park

it smells really nice!

here is Owens St, still fenced off, just to the park's west. again, with the Exchange

Mariposa Park from above

block 1 from the north side of the Creek at Third

speaking of block 1, does anyone have any insight into why the hotel has not broken ground yet? the last information I was able to find said it should have been second quarter of this year, and the designer's site still says it would open in late 2017, which seems impossible.

some of the scaffolding has started to come down at block 7W, next door to Family House

the skyline as seen from the future bayfront open space

still not much to see from the work they've been doing on the north side of the future Channel St alignment (except that block 1 is now visible from this perspective)

they've made a little progress at the western end of the Commons. it surprises me that the semicircular concrete form they poured in the ground, behind the earth mover in this shot, appears to be offset to the right with respect to the axis of the median of the road. I thought it would be symmetrical.

Clarify for me, cause SocketSite calls Uber's MB building their worldwide headquarters, but I thought that was going to Oakland...

No--Uber's corporate headquarters is in San Francisco and will remain here. The Oakland site is an expansion of its growing presence in the Bay Area and elsewhere. They are expanding in San Francisco too.

block 1 taking its place at the end of the row of creek-front parcels

the roadbeds at the western end of the Commons are starting to take shape

and we have a south-sidewalk curb for Mission Bay Blvd South

the Rutter views

block 1 starting to peek up in this one

parcel P23 as seen from the Fibrogen building on Illinois St. looking basically north:

the parcel will be integrated with the Fibrogen building's own open space:

not sure how the section with the curving step-way will connect:

Uber's site:

not quite MB proper, the project on Third near Mariposa:

the work on the west end of the Commons

scaffolding coming down on block 7W along Fourth:

Rutter views:

SF Tower starting to pop up in this shot:

the work on the north side of the new Channel is becoming a bit clearer, with curbs starting to appear. this makes me think it is the parking for the houseboat population

the Rutter views:

here comes SF Tower...

...and block 1

southern end of the Exchange and new Owens

and as seen from Mariposa; now blotting out the freeway

the skyline from bayfront open space

one thing that was not clear to me about Uber's project: they've removed the greenspace that had just been put in to the east a few years ago. as seen from the roof of the South St Garage

along Third St, where I thought the limits to Uber's building were

on the north side of block 7W, the wood panelling at sidewalk level will be a nice touch

and a bit more detail coming in on the Fourth St facade

block 1 from last week
