South End

Really like how the Dimensional Funds and Rail Yards building are turning out. Spoke with someone who works at the developer of Rail Yards and they are thrilled with how well it leased up. It’ll open basically fully leased. Definitely a lot of demand for South End office space.

I should have walked a little bit further to take pictures of the Atherton Mill construction #regrets Jealous that you get to see the South End construction from your building. When Spectrum office buildings and Legacy II start, it will be even more exciting.

I work in Charlotte Plaza, facing College/1st Ward but BOAC, Hearst, and 1BAC are blocking most of the construction happenings. I might be be able to see Intercontinental Hotel rise. Market 42 (grading just started) is blocked by 1BAC Grand Bohemian Hotel blocked by several buildings. I'm hoping that I will be able to see part of 7th&Tryon block when it comes to fruition. Want to see renderings of the library this year...starting to get impatient. If only Brooklyn Village can speed up (should be a good view from the parking deck) along with the Moxy Hotel. So many things to look forward to in the coming years!

Hey forumers, I'm new to Charlotte and I've got a few questions for the group. Where do you get most of your urban development news? And outside of Uptown, which neighborhoods would you consider being the most urban/walkable?

Urbanplanet.org under the Charlotte section is the most active for development news in Charlotte. I'd ay Southend is the most walkable neighborhood outside of Uptown.

For me, my favorite would be Dilworth. Also like Elizabeth/Midtown. They have a lot of more charm than South End which is expected given that they are a true historic neighborhood (old Charlotte vibe).

Construction begins on 29-story uptown bank tower

401 S. Graham (FNB Tower) has been reduced by 2 floors.

401 S. Graham is a nice addition. Market 42 is successful at extending the skyline, but with a design only a mother could love...

Market 42 is the first of its kind in Charlotte haha. We don't have anything like this in uptown so it should stand out. Will be interesting to see if the hotel (same complex) will be similar in design. I hope that with this getting started will push TenTryon (Publix) forward.

Some more renderings.

Im sorry but that is absolutely hideous. I wouldn’t want my name on that if I was the architect. Hell just go ahead and add all the colors of the rainbow and make it truly a monstrosity.

I'll take that hideous beast if it can help kick start some additional development in that dead end of uptown.

Next up: deal with that giant parking ramp disaster

charlotte's skyline is kind of ridiculous for its size. quite impressive, and you guys keep building more.

Despite it being a little squatty looking with the 2 floor reduction, the FNB building will be a great addition to that view.
