World Trade Centre Twin Towers prior to September 11th 2001 by SPECTRUM2008

As the old world trade center consisted of two tall (1300 or more ft) skyscrapers rather than one like currently, the image at 4:52 in the video can serve as a comparison to see how one single old WTC tower would look like from the same viewing angle and direction that the new One WTC is often filmed from (such as from the memorial looking north and up, at the south and east faces).

^ very interesting view -- thats gotta be like 1970 or 1971.

my spouse's former office building would later be in the foreground just below the twins.

expect of course it wasnt even a thought yet -- 199 water st/one seaport plaza (b. 1984).

I was browsing here back in sept and thought I came across a page where a local was posting pictures of the area around the WTC contrasting with pics from 9/11. I seem to not be able to find that thread.

The angle this picture was captured from and the low clouds obscuring the middle portion of both of the twin towers really emphasize how tall and imposing the towers were on the Lower Manhattan skyline. What's more, this picture was apparently taken on September 10, 2001.

for the anniversary --- a staten island advance article after the feb 26, 1993 bombing:

Staten Islanders recount harrowing tales of entrapment, escape from World Trade Center bombing of 1993. | From The Vault

EDITOR'S NOTE
This is the digitized version of an article that appeared in the Saturday, Feb. 27, 1993 edition of the Staten Island Advance, after the first terrorist attack at the World Trade Center in Manhattan. Stephen Knapp of Great Kills was one of six persons killed on Feb. 26, 1993 when a bomb ripped through a subbasement at the World Trade Center. Sunday marks 30 years since the day of the attack.
Feb. 27, 1993

Staten Island residents were trapped in every imaginable corner of the huge complex that is the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan during yesterday’s disaster.
