The median income in the US is slighty higher than Canada and Netherlands, more than UK and France, and less than Sandinavia -but then Americans work much longer than all of them, in days per year and hours each day. Also such is the inequality at the bottom, the lowest 10% in the UK earn $18K, but in the US only $10K (and with far less social security provided by the state). In short what Europeans lose out in pay, are rewarded in lifestyle and state eg free healthcare, subsiized transport and infrastructure, 30 days paid holiday, social security if down and out/ losing jobs.
