They're so cute they don't look real. If I went back to NL I would probably need another suitcase for all the puffin-related stuff my kids would demand.

Nice finds! I especially love the shot from inside The Rooms. The view from inside looks awesome.

I'm always annoyed when I see pictures from Iceland or, worse, Greenland that could literally be here.

Yeah they're easily seen here. We actually have a program where people drive through suburban towns along the Irish Shore and pick up the babies off the streets and sidewalks. They unfortunately get distracted by the lights of the towns and fly to them instead of out to sea following the moon. There are a couple offshore islands that look exactly like these pictures. Witless Bay Ecological Reserve is the name. The tour boats mostly leave from Bay Bulls.

The other main, accessible place is Elliston on the Bonavista Peninsula. There they actually nest right beside the town so you can walk right among them. Also looks like your pics

Those are the two places you'll see tens of thousands at once, and hundreds up close. But go out on the water anywhere and you'll see a couple. They fly inches above the waves, wings flapping so fast you can't make them out. They're SO small though. It's just fleeting glimpses. I imagine it's the same as seeing bats.

Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve is more impressive topographically, but no puffins that I've ever seen. I think it's just gannets.

No doubt, Newfoundland has been on my list. It's just too easy to overlook when there's a direct flight from YVR to Reykjavik for $600 compared to a $1000 flight with a 40-minute connection in Pearson or Ottawa in order to get to St. John's

Oh, we know. It's even more irritating in reverse. We pay the $1,600 and go to Pearson before Reykjavik. Despite a majority of flights between NA and EU flying over our heads. Fuck the hub and spoke system. Just put a single fucking plane down once a week and let us get on lol. All we need. Cuts in half our travel time to Europe.

Some enterprising Newfoundlander needs to start a budget airline between the RoC and Europe to cash in on that sweet sweet Puffin money.

Sounds like it's easier to get to puffins in NFLD than in Iceland. The spot I took the photos was clear across the other side of the island from Reykjavik - about an 8 hour drive.

Very cool shot looking east to the towers of Sugar Wharf, through the superimposed window reflection of the CN Tower ... from the west.

Great pics, Saskatoon looks pretty cool. Lots of charming old buildings and a well-kept public realm.

Unfortunately it's too far north to have been a stop on my recent cross-country drive, but I was impressed with Moose Jaw & Regina too. Saskatoon seems like it'd be even better.

That's very cool! Reminds me of when they did a similar glowing globe under the Gardiner a few years back.

Cool photos from St. John.

I did a walk around Victoria this evening with Zoomer. We spent a couple of hours walking the city and taking photos. I uploaded three this evening and will share more over the week. It was a beautiful sunny and warm evening.
