Cool CHICAGO | Wolf Point - East Tower | 679 FT | 62 FLOORS

Wolf Point's second tower to rise 66 stories
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/reale...ise-66-stories

By Ryan Ori J G

Wolf Point's developers are planning to launch construction of a 66-story apartment tower in early 2017, the second of three planned towers on the riverside site near the Merchandise Mart, in early 2017.

Wolf Point East will be a 750-foot-tall tower with 707 luxury apartments, according to the AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust, an investor in the first two phases of the development. The tower will be 66 stories.

Crain's first reported in April that the tower's developers, a venture led by Hines Interests and Joseph P. Kennedy Enterprises planned to break ground on the second tower in the first quarter of 2017. At the time, specific details of the project were not disclosed...

It looks like Wolf Point West really set the tone for this project as hoped – I see a combination of bKL's influence with the art deco setbacks of the revised Pelli designs.

at 750', wouldn't this also be the tallest 100% rental building in chicago?

i know we have some taller mixed-use condo/rental buildings, but i can't think of any taller all rental towers in the city.

Bulldozers are at work right now on the east parcel. They look to be knocking down / leveling a few concrete impediments that currently exist there.

I can see this site very clearly out my office window.

Edit: Oops - maybe this thread is just for the South site? I swear when I originally posted it said "South and East" - am I losing it?

I'm don't think this counts as 'official' in SSP's collective mind, but today Hines officially announced the groundbreaking of WPE...

It's a nice mix of the nearby 300 N LaSalle and 150 N Riverside.

Dope design. Wish it was still going to be 750 feet. I wonder if that means the additional density can then be added to the south tower?

Lovely building. Unfortunately to my eye the attractiveness of Wolf Point East is rather detracted by the unattractiveness of its neighbor, the Apparel Center

Once Wolf Point South is complete in about 5-7 years, you'll hardly be able to see the Apparel Center.
