But I agree with everyone the canopy is for wind. The Market/Van Ness area is especailly windy as anyone walking past 100 Van Ness will tell you.

I don't recall seeing a photo here of the other side of the city office portion of the building--what's officially known as "49 South Van Ness" I think:

guess I'll throw this one in here too - S Van Ness looks like it is getting new street fixtures to match Van Ness

the scaffolding is off the Art Deco portion of the project



sidewalk is all done, with artpieces

8/18-2020 - The former Coca Cola bottling is a nice fit in this block long development. The old on one corner & the new on the other. I remember seeing the bottles on the conveyor belt moving to be bottled.

nice to see it with some sun on it! I always seem to get there late enough in the day that is almost completely shadowed

this is the 'other' end of the passageway, that empties onto Mission (hang a left at the far end to get out to S Van Ness)
