I hope it fails. It would be awesome if CAHSR could buy the infrastructure for pennies on the dollar and fully integrate it into the network instead of having two separate operators.

Regardless of who it is, the connection of The City of (Lost) Angels and the City of Sin should only be through Union Station. Hopefully see some movement on that soon.

There is an update for the Trains link. Revenue service will begin in early 2023. Test runs will begin when the track and signals are ready, hopefully before Christmas.

Brightline’s Miami To Orlando Rail Line Close To 80% Complete
June 23, 2022

Month by month, Brightline’s Miami to Orlando rail project continues to move closer to completion.
In its latest report to investors released on June 21, Brightline said the overall project was now approaching 80% substantial completion.

Approximately 1,000 construction workers were actively engaged in buildout of the Miami-Orlando project in May 2022, the company said.

Some of the most complex work, including that inside Orlando International Airport, has already been completed. Another major milestone is expected in August, when a Vehicle Maintenance Facility will reach completion.

Brightline has already taken delivery this year of two trainsets that will run the Miami-Orlando route, with two more coming by next month and another by year end. Test trains are also already being daily on a portion of the route that is mostly complete.

The existing service between Miami and West Palm Beach is seeing strong increases in ridership and revenue. In May 2022, ticket revenue was up 62% compared to May 2019. Ridership was up 23% over May 2019.

This is good news! The station will be constructed next to the Convention Center and Universal Studios new 3rd theme park that is under construction, Epic Universe. I'm sure there will be shuttles to all the major attractions. Here's the area: https://goo.gl/maps/7zVx2DNFHTpBMbxn6

I was curious as to why the Disney Springs station was nixed and came across this :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Brightline announced its agreement with Disney World to build the train station at Disney Springs in November 2020.
"The original plan called for a single station at Disney Springs. Along with a broad range of stakeholders, we have identified a solution now known as the Sunshine Corridor, which contemplates two new stations and integrates Brightline's intercity service with SunRail, through an east-west expansion.

Porritt said one station will be at the Orange County Convention Center and another will be near the Disney Springs, although not on Disney property.
Taken together, the three integrated stations provide access to the largest economic and employment centers in central Florida and offer the best opportunity for the success of Brightline and SunRail," Porritt said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If this report is correct this means that Brightline & Sunrail will finally connect which is fantastic news since the previous plan would have left a 6 mile gap between Sunrail and the Airport.

It's probably best that brightline didn't go to Disney. Would have provided an unfair advantage over the other theme parks in the area.

This is a weird way to phrase the news report. There will still be a "Disney" station, but it will be in the I-4 median instead of directly inside Disney Springs. This means a slightly longer walk, likely on a skybridge, into Disney Springs. Disney has already built part of the skybridge to serve their Grapefruit Parking Garage.

You keep saying that, but, there will be a stop "near" Disney just not inside. Also, there will be a local service commuter train running on the same tracks and in conjunction with Brightline in South Florida.
