Now has anyone considered how the building maintenance unit design will function with the stepped roof crown design?

I still say it’s missing infills from the curtainwall. Probably yet to be field glazed for whatever reason.
Maybe so.

the crown delays on all these midtown talls are driving me berzerk.

it's like those marathon runners that fall down 50ft from the finish line and have to crawl.

It is amazing how most skyscrapers seem to race to 95% complete then bog down for eternity for that last 5%.

I'm simplifying of course, because I'm a civil engineer and I understand how construction works and progresses, but it sure does seem that way.

^ The odd thing about this one is that it was topped out once (the spire), only to have it removed, and us wait for it again. If we hadn't already seen it, and the brilliant lighting on the skyline,
I would personally be a little more patient. But having seen it already, I want it right now!

can i say again how really happy i am with the complicated base of this tower?

i saw the sign and it is the ace of base.

ha.

i cannot wait to get the run of the building when it opens and check it out.

we will have the transit access below, the lobby and large restaurant and the observation area at the top.

unlike many, it's really one for the people, which is amazing.

Thanks.

I was out early this morning, three days ago, and also last night with binoculars trying to see it from my area. I managed to get a glimpse. The light pollution really makes it difficult.

Was easier to see on the 14th. Clouds come at the worst time, binoculars really help.

On a side note, if you want something that is awe inspiring, check this out: Comet NEOWISE from ISS [ 4K ] . Go to 4:20 mark. Amazing stuff.

^One Vanderbilt looks truly iconic in this photo, even with an incomplete spire.

Two of those nearby "pencils" may be taller, and one of them has a very unique design, but being so skinny it's hard for them to be seen as iconic.

Not all of our projects are large. Sometimes we have to think small .. 🤔💡..really small (1/16” scale to be exact) Welcome to One Vanderbilt. A 67-floor skyscraper on 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue in midtown Manhattan. TLD was tasked with illuminating the architectural models within @slgreen_realty office standing immediately west of Grand Central Terminal.
