I voted in favor. The height is already there, in fact the zoning that they received in last year's council action would allow them to go the ZHO route and go higher. The PUD would cap the height at the proposed 110 feet. I'm pretty sure that the PUD will be approved going forward. Note that 6-5 was an improvement. There were only 2 votes in favor last time around.

8th and row

these initially were supposed to be condos but looks like they are renting them now. Weird they made it a gated community, doesn't really belong downtown.

https://www.8thandrow.com/

anyone have $3400 a month I can borrow to rent one?

That’s for a four bedroom though, right? That’s a really good price for downtown. About $850 a bedroom.

They must be just renting a few, there aren’t any 2 bedrooms even available.

Don’t try and count cranes will driving on the 202 approaching downtown, your eyes will be off the road for several seconds while attempting to count them all! TBH, I think downtown Phoenix FINALLY has more cranes up than Tempe.

Also, break a leg in your performance!

YESS! This is such great news! Awesome to see the gap between Roosevelt and downtown really getting filled with nice 17-30 story apartment towers!

It’s funny we haven’t really seen much left in the pipeline now for Tempe as far as high-rises go. I think 100 mill has started construction? If so, are there any planned highrises that have not broken ground and are still in the pipeline? I’m not aware of many.

Phoenix has many under construction and lots more in the pipe. You’re right. They’re definitely taking the lead on new core high-rise development now.

Get all the pictures you can of that mural. While I am excited about new highrises, i am sad that mural is going to be hidden behind one. At least there will be a 5 foot buffer between the two.

Walking by this corner always bummed me out for the past couple years cause I thought this project was definitely not gonna happen. So glad it’s moving forward! A 21 story tower is gonna look great there!

There isn't a crane up for 100 Mill yet. Other projects coming are The Hilo, 7th and Forest residential, 6th and College hotel, Omni Hotel, the hotel next to 100 Mill, the remaining 4 or 5 buildings on the I.D.E.A. campus, Watermark Phase II, The Depot and whatever is planned for Novus. Tempe's not done yet, but Phoenix has a lot more space to grow in the downtown core than Tempe does. Also, not everything in the pipeline for either city will necessarily get built, but let's hope so!

I guess I was thinking 15+ stories, not low rise. Omni and 100 Mill, but isn’t crane already up for 7th and Forest? I wouldn’t consider IDEA, Hilo, to be in the same ballpark. Also, not very confident Watermark II will happen as planned after it was sold off. My point is guess is that there are really no new proposals we’ve seen in 6 months. The Depot has to be a joke. Giant parking garage and no real height. Hope it doesn’t happen.

Phoenix seemingly gets a new 15+ story proposal every 2-3 months but it seems like forever since we’ve seen one proposed for Tempe. Tempe seems to be going taking advantage of all the developments in IDEA, Novus and The Grand to keep heights in the 7-10 story range of the most part. All that land opening up at once I think actually turned out to hurt Tempe from a density perspective.

Heck, I don't know about that, lol. So far everything we thought was dead seems to be getting new life. Derby suddenly moving is proof this city refuses to stop!

I hope the Derby developer puts their crane in a position where it's always hanging over Mat's beloved patio.
