Despite being a "Fultonized" project, I think this building aligns tastefully with the neighborhood while bringing a unique and creative element to the mix. I hope those "argyle style" striations remain within the glass on the finished product. I look forward to watching this building grow from my West Loop office at 210 N Carpenter.

Any architects on here know what the reasoning for that is? Is it to carve out some of the building to build higher per the lot's zoned FAR restriction?

I'm really tired of the boom in this part of the city producing carbon copy designs; same brick, same industrial windows, same overall massing or some minor variation therein. There is nothing unique or interesting about any of these buildings.

I completely disagree. I love how these buildings combine the old industrial feel with modern glass. It is kind of unique to this part of the city as far as I know.

I think you're forgetting a lot of the great west loop projects we've had. That's not to say that there are a lot of carbon copies because there are. But if you look at the total sum of completed west loop projects in the last few years, you'd find plenty of projects that don't fit the copy and paste metaphor. 111 S Peoria, 727 W Madison, 800 Fulton, 333 N Green, the ACE hotel, the Mason West Loop, that one new project on Halsted with the gold (forgot the name), etc. I'm sure there are more. And that Fulton Labs project looks really cool.

I thought all of these designers were required by the West Loop People's Review & Design Committee

They're probably the next thing to be VE'd out.

Same. I like the uniformity. The more 8-12 story brick boxes, the merrier!

Thank the West Loop guidelines for that.

In case anyone's curious (I was a bit), I believe this is the document that outlines the guidelines

https://www.chicago.gov/content/dam/...nes_LowRes.pdf

Oh boy, a checklist too!

It's nothing special but its clean and simple. If you want something different, look no further than this monstrosity a few blocks east.
