One Bayfront Plaza Emptying Out To Make Way For Supertall

Quote:
Businesses at downtown Miami’s One Bayfront Plaza have now relocated to make way for a new supertall tower, a video by Actionkid shows.

There’s also a new rendering of the supertall – but it is unclear if it is what the developer is actually planning (the rendering was uploaded in June 2022, the website path states).

An existing office building is being demolished to make way for the new tower.

Jerome Hollo of Florida East Coast Realty told the SFBJ last week that they are now working to obtain a demolition permit.

Demolition is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2023, and will take around six months to complete. Construction on the new supertall is planned in 2024.

Hollo told the SFBJ that the developer is bullish on office demand.

The website reported that Kohn Pedersen Fox is the architect, with apartments, retail, and hotel also planned.

Supposedly an old rendering, it was posted on Miami Herald, however.

The demo of the existing building expected next year along with construction per developer. Hopefully they can reach this milestone.

Now that the older building has had its tenants move out.

I hope the rendering is a placeholder. It’s completely underwhelming.

Isn’t this the design? This looks great though it would be even better if it had a slanted roof.

But isn't what I posted the latest design? I hope so. It's the best that we've seen through all these years IMO.

I think the gold design is an older rendering.

Signs Of Activity At One Bayfront Plaza

Quote:
There is new activity possibly related to demolition at One Bayfront Plaza, where a supertall tower is planned.

On February 1, a process number was created with Miami’s Building Department for demolition work, records show.

However, the application intake was still showing as incomplete as of this morning, so the exact scope of what is planned could not be ascertained.

Also this week, a photo uploaded to Twitter appeared to show furnishings being discarded from inside the building.

The property sits in a prime downtown Miami location, and both demolition and new construction of a supertall will have a major impact on the city skyline.

Demolition Banner Flies At One Bayfront Plaza Supertall Site
https://www.thenextmiami.com/demolit...upertall-site/

Quote:
A demolition banner has just been installed at the One Bayfront Plaza site in Downtown Miami, according to new photos by Phillip Pessar.
An interior demolition permit was approved by Miami’s Building Department on May 1.
The permit is for interior demolition of 278,000 square feet of space, at an estimated cost of $400,000.

Demolition is close to starting.

Wow, is this for real? Sounds like it won't be quite 1049 but still around 1000 which is awesome for an office tower, especially outside of NYC or Chicago.
