Folks, I am probably the least "church-y" person you will ever meet (aka lucky if my skin doesn't start blistering when I walk in), but if you come across a beautiful historic church and the doors are open, go inside.
Stopped in this church, service was going on so no photos of the sanctuary.
As we were walking along, saw this ... didn't dawn on us until we read the plaques that it was the memorial for the bombing at the Boston Marathon
In response to Steely Dan's post in City Discussions about winning the lottery - this would fall under "yes please" if we're talking unlimited funds
Loved Boston even just from one visit, but really - this clunky Prudential thing knocked Cleveland's Terminal Tower out of 'tallest in the USA outside of NYC'? Another case of - yeah, we're cool - it's all yours
So, on our last day we ventured out to the spots close to downtown. My good friend from college married a gal from the area and introduced us to Shipyard's Pumpkinhead - the BEST pumpkin beer EVAR (is EVAR still a thing?) We can only get 6-pack bottles here so when we ducked into MIJA at Quincy/Faneuil/Bunch of Touristy spots and saw it on draft? HelLO!!!
Obligatory pic - thought it might look better in person, nope. Actually the gloomy weather might have helped it... somewhat?
A few more around the area:
The weather made for a good backdrop for the cemeteries:
Also a good excuse to duck into another hotel:
Loved these - fully admit I have a morbid side
The county courthouse:
Annnd - Boston can take Brutalism to a serious level!
